Ok, this may be triggering so use your judgements when watching these videos. There is definetly some profane language and alot of yelling, and its very sad.

This is a video that has been floating around on youtube for some time. Basically it is a young african american woman on a subway who gets very upset and unleashes on an older lady on the same train. She is judged as crazy, and certainly she is very disorganized in her speech and actions.

The public backlash to this was amazing. so many people chose to judge her as a drug addict or someone who should be in jail. Well the brother of the girl posted a response on youtube as well, and explained and apologized for her behavior. It turns out that she was bipolar, and this is what caused her outburst.

It just goes to show how people in this world today can consider those who are mentally ill dangerous, criminal, drug addicts who need to be put in jail. Now while i agree that she should definetly be observed when she is this out of sorts, i dont agree that she needs to be jailed or is a criminal and i think its sad that people were so quick to judge her.

I have decided not to place the videos here, rather go to youtube.com and search for "crazy girl on a train" if you want to see the video.. and search Re:Crazy girl on a train if you would like to see her brothers response.

I didn't search. I'm afraid I may see a bit of myself in her.

Truth be told... I'll probably look for it before the night passes.

thats a shame be.

And, i just wanted to add, im not condoning the girls behavior, i just think its awful how people just assume things about someone who is behaving in a way thats "crazy" or whatnot.

Its just a sad situation all around - and her family knew about it, which makes me even sadder, because they should have known she was so ill and should have been watching out for her. Now shes made a name for herself on youtube and that is her legacy? I think thats just sad.

She is fortunate nothing serious happened to her.

She might be bipolar, but it doesn't look like it was under any sort of control.

And there are at least half a dozen postings re: crazy girl on a train from men, so I have no clue which is her brothers response

I feel sorry for that girl, her family AND that poor elderly lady. I'm not sure what could have been done differently. I'm thankful the old lady didn't try to scold (or shoot) the girl. I don't see how taking her to court and filing charges would make a difference either - it just makes her an official "criminal." It won't take away the fear she placed in that woman or protect her in the future.

It looked like some of the young men with her WERE trying to look out for her by telling her to "chill," and trying to distract her. There are no laws stating people with bipolar disorder can't use public transportation. Cameras are everywhere nowadays, so she will have to live with the consequences of her outburst. I suspect the humiliation she has suffered due to her 3 minutes of fame on YouTube will be more effective in curbing her behavior than a lawsuit or jail time. I hope she'll be able to get a handle on her treatment. It's nice to know she has a brother who cares.
