my oldest is getting married in July. She's marrying her h.s. sweetheart. they've been together for six years. my daughter has graduated college with a degree in psych. her fiance is currently working towards his master's in engineering. he's going all the way for his PhD.

i'm so incredibly proud of both of them Help!!!! Wedding Songs! they're exceptional young ppl.

daughter has colors red & silver...alot of details are figured out..reception hall rented...church...pastor...the whole nine yards. we've already purchased her gown (it's lovely!) and the maid's gowns. she's figured out everything for the head table and the tables at the reception. the photographer has been secured.

she's not sure about the songs yet though! the songs during the ceremony and reception. she has some favs but is still looking at making final decisions. she keeps asking me and i've told her all the ones i can think of.

they are both very devoted young christians, but the songs do not have to be of a church/christian nature.

any suggestions???? i can't wait to share some of the pics!!!!! she's lovely and you should see her in her gown. i bawled! lol.

anyhow, i'm desperately seeking songs for submit to them for their consideration...please help???

thank you friends Help!!!! Wedding Songs!

What about Sarah Brightman's version of "Ave Maria"? It is hauntingly beautiful.

I wanted to sing it at my own wedding (I sing Sarah's material) but due to nerves didn't want to sing live and then ran out of time to cut a CD.

Dona Vina (spelling)? sings a lovely ballad called "in love with you". Also beautiful.

Another idea is Shania Twain's "You're still the one" and there is another typically wedding type song on the same CD but the name totally eludes me right now.

Ummm, thinking ............. Celine Dion's "Falling into You" (understand she is not everyone's cup of tea).

Those were just a few off the top of my head ideas.

Good luck - would love to know the final choice. Help!!!! Wedding Songs!

Kimmy,
There are always the classics like "Brown Eye Girl" though I cannot think of the name of the guy who did it...the one from Sleeping with the Enemy.
umm songs from musicials are always beautiful like Phantom of the Opera.

I hope she has fun picking out songs,
Jessica

I once sang a really lovely version of 1st Corintians 13 for a wedding. Familiar verse, but not a common song. Unfortunately, I cannot remember the composer. I'll see if I can track it down.

That would be "From This Moment On"

GREAT song!

Lyrics...

(Spoken/Sung: I do swear that I'll always be there
I'd give anything and everything
And I will always care
Through weakness and strength
Happiness and sorrow
For better, for worse,
I will love you with every beat of my heart)

From this moment life has begun
From this moment you are the one
Right beside you is where I belong
From this moment on

From this moment I have been blessed
I live only for your happiness
And for your love I'd give my last breath
From this moment on

I give my hand to you with all my heart
Can't wait to live my life with you
Can't wait to start
You and I will never be apart
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you
I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on

You're the reason I believe in love
And you're the answer to my prayers from up above
All we need is just the two of us
My dreams came true because of you

From this moment as long as I live
I will love you
I promise you this
There is nothing I wouldn't give
From this moment on.

Don't let the stupid organist talk her into "Here Comes the Bride" (unless thats what she wants). I wanted Pachabel's Canon in D and she talked me out of it (razzafrazzin old lady...).

Anyway, for our first dance we used "My Best Friend" by Tim McGraw...it's us. Help!!!! Wedding Songs!

I have the whole list somewhere (I assume in my scrapbook), let me know if you need more help!

And congrats!

My #1 piece of advice: Keep your husband away from her veil.

My dad was doing some "cleaning" the day before the wedding and threw mine away!!!!!!!! I had worked very hard on it adding pearls and rhinestones. Did I mention it was the veil my mother wore at her wedding? We got another one the day or the rehearsal dinner.

Do you have a dj? They usually have great suggestions as to what songs to use for father-daughter dance and mother-son dance.

Okay, these are the songs my roommate danced to (minus one Mormon one). I have them all if you want any:

-Alabama "How Do You Fall in Love"
-Beach Boys & John Stamos "Forever" (**btw, this is the wedding song from Full House when Uncle Jesse married Becky, remember that?)
-Ben Harper "Forever"
-Bryan Adams, Rod Stewart "All for One, All for Love"
-Eric Clapton "More Than Words"
-Faith Hill "Breathe"
-Leanne Rhymes "I Need You"
-Rod Stewart "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You"

We just got married 2 weeks ago and our song was "Annie's Song" by John Denver. It's a modern waltz. Lyrics:

Annie's Song
John Denver

You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again

Come let me love you
Let me give my life to you
Let me drown in your laughter
Let me die in your arms
Let me lay down beside you
Let me always be with you
Come let me love you
Come love me again

You fill up my senses
Like a night in a forest
Like the mountains in springtime
Like a walk in the rain
Like a storm in the desert
Like a sleepy blue ocean
You fill up my senses
Come fill me again

There are so many beautiful songs to choose from. A few that come to mind are "If I didn't have you" by Amanda Marshall; "Beautiful in My Eyes" by Joshua Kadison; "Open Arms" by Journey; "I Knew I Loved You" by Savage Garden and, probably an obvious and well-used one, "Up Where we Belong" by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warren. Those are just off the top of my head.

What about Unchained Melody? Being a DJ/Karaoke Host myself, I can remember it being a good slow dance song, as well as I'm Already There by Lonestar, Back at One by Bryan McKnight,.....if you're looking for faster more upbeat songs for some good dancing, I would recommend, we're here for a good time by Trooper, Hurt So Good by.....can't remember that guy's name, and several others.
