I applied for a job in Memphis Tennesee and was selected and I accepted it. I start sometime mid to late 2009, it is a government job and they have to wait for the funding. My boys are down there as is all my family. In the meantime I have a chance to sell my house and "stuff" and get packed up and ready to go.

I have been wanting to do this for a year and it finally is going to happen. No more Minnesota -30 degrees and 6 feet of snow.

Yeaaaaahhhh!!!

Oh god I'm soooooooo jealous! But happy for you! My husband & I are planning our escape from the Chicago area weather. But we won't be able to head for warmer climates for at least a year, if ever. All depends on how his career change goes, or doesn't.

Welcome to the state just south of me......yep.....warmer weather.....south enough that you probably don't get as much snow as we do & not sure if Tenn escaped most of the ice storm we got either.....but think it couldn't have been anywhere as severe if they did get it.

Being close to family is so important.....I know I moved away from everyone when I came to Ky from southern California......there are times when I wish I had family around, but the only family I have is the husband I left & my daughter who is in Colorado. I chose to move here on my own & have found wonderful friends I never imagined could exist......but family is important, so it's wonderful for you to get the chance to move close to them....interesting how things work out.

Selling your house & all your things makes sense....I was shocked at the cost of moving things across country. After 2 years, I am still sitting in an empty house with all my furniture still sitting with my husband in my California house......someday when I find enough money, I will drive my horse trailer back to California & bring a load of furniture while I have professionals haul my horses here.

Enjoy your new job & your move......will be exciting for you.
