I have an SSI hearing coming up in a few weeks. I'm in need of an attorney to help me win my case. My diagnosis is fibromyalgia and myaofascial pain. My initial application for SSI has been denied. I've waited a year for this hearing and two local attorneys have refused to take my case. They say that at my age, and given that there's no objective medical evidence, they doubt they can win the case for me.
Does anyone know of an attorny in NY who has a track record for winning SSI hearings for fibromyalgia/myofacial pain? |

I cannot help with your specific question. But I want to express my support as someone in a similar situation. I have already been denied SSI but applied for social security disability the 2nd time in September. Denied the 1st time in 2006. I am hoping for an answer soon and if denied again unsire if I will seek legal help. Wishing you the best.

in my experiences with SSI and later SSD, i found the best help came from my doctors. if they feel your condition is worthy of SSI they will support you in your appeal process. of course if you feel you need an attorney, you might try legal aid, charge on a sliding scale, and see if that helps. but since 2 attorneys have looked at your case and came up with the same conclusion i'd return to my doctors for them to be more specific of why you need ssi. hope this may help and good luck to you.
