Just reading a news article here >>>>>>>>>> http://psychcentral.com/news/2009/03...life/4837.html

I just thought - Duh! How many times do we need to read the news stating the obvious. Heaps and heaps of research is done on stuff that frankly makes complete sense if you use your head! Why research it if we already know it! The latest research will show that depressed people feel sad. Whatever next!

Hello goodsense66, welcome to Psych Central! I think you have to have done over a certain number of posts before you are allowed to go into the chat room (over 5 posts.) I recommend that you do an introduction in the New Member Introductions forum.

Oh, I get it! Create studies that everyone already knows the answer to, so you can stay gainfully employed...uh, say what?

I had a different experience with depression. I DID appreciate positive happenings, as long as they were emotion based...practical happenings were in a separate, dry, boring category...I needed positive emotional happenings to see my way out of depression, ten years later, enough positive emotional things DID finally happen, and that OPENED THE PRACTICAL WORLD UP, and now I see the beauty not just in emotion but in EVERYTHING.

Beans are such a shallow way or method to understand depression...the way out is far more beautiful..............

It says in the article... Therapists might focus more on helping their depressed clients recognize and remember the positive aspects of their new experiences,” Strunk said.

Heck! Therapists know this already! CBT is actually focused on this aspect!

It's not just this article that gets me, it's the supposed 'new research' that is done, telling us something that is common sense most the time!

But notz has probably hit the nail on the head, funding is given to research that will show the outcome they want!
