My pdoc put me on lamictal a few weeks ago... 25 mg per day for a week, then upped by 25 mg each following week up to 100 mg per day. I started noticing small changes with in a few days and some significant changes by the end of the 50 mg week. Pdoc said I should pause at 50 mg per day and see if that dosage would continue to yield improvements. He said that if it didn't, I could up my dosage as I saw fit up to 100 per day, provided I let him know. Is that wierd?

<font color="green">Ry,

That's normal. Of course, you're not normal, but that's normal for meds!

If you start noticing problems be sure to call him immediately.

ryan, that's exactly what brother's p'doc did with him and his risperdal...told him to play around with it until he found the dosage that worked best for him with the least side effects. however, he said he couldn't go over a certain amount. just like your dr.

love,

You have NO idea how grateful I am for this thread. I took my first Lamictal today. My Pdc told me to half it for three days and then take the whole tablet for 27 days and we'll evaluate then.......I was scared to death of this particular drug and read the PDR on it. I'm so happy that someone else has started it and perhaps we can keep each other posted on how we're doing. Pat

fayerody, are you referring to 25 mg pills? Like you're supposed to take 12.5 mg for 3 days and then take 25 mg for 27 days? if so I've never heard of that. My doc started me on 25 mg and said I could go up by 25 mg each week till I was at 100. He said that after that we'd have to talk about things. But I have noticed a difference with the lamictal. What scared you about it? Was it the possible rash?

I always research things to the point of nonsense.....the rash worries me. it worries me that this might not be the right med for me.....worry, worry, worry.......on dosage, i bet i'm way smaller than you! i'm only five feet tall and weigh about 125 right now. all my med doses are usually smaller than larger folk's are.....yesterday i felt almost good. you know the feeling of "what if this isn't real?".......i'm very, very cautious. i've had too many docs give me meds that didn't help me. glad you posted about this. pat
