So I'm at work last night and I'm doing a favor for the day shift crew by doing some metal fabrication (which I lothe by the way). I'm gringing down my welds on this new breaker I'm installing and a matal splinter finds its way around my face shield AND my safety glasses and RIGHT INTO MY DAMN EYE!!! OMG!!! Can we say pain? Now I've got all this freakin paperwork to fill out... incident reports, who, what, when , where, how, why, and aout a million other questions. And I'm stuck in an eye patch till tomorrow. This sucks.

OH, Ryan! I'm so sorry! But... uh... you said you'd be in eye patch until tomorrow? Hey! It could have been for the rest of your life, Hun! Screw the paperwork, screw the eye patch! You've still got your eye and I take it, your eye sight, too! Grrrrrrr...... Don't sweat the small stuff, Hun. You're gonna be okay.

I can't imagine how bad the pain must have been, though! And to be doing a job you hate! Grrrrrrr...... I probably would have freaked so bad, I'd still be sedated! LOL Would a hug and a gentle peck on your eye patch help? Grrrrrrr...... Grrrrrrr......

BTW, I think pirates are sexy!

What a night for you! It must hurt so much. I'm so sorry.

Paper work, yes these paper work. I know you are in pain but my dear friend try to do these paper work very well. It's very important. When I got my work injury I did do these paper work right but the doctor at the ER didn't. So I have not been protected.

Ryan, hang in and do the paperwork in case something happens with your eye down the road. Sounds pretty ouchy. Hope it feels better soon.

<font color="green"> Ry!

Dear heavens, we turn you loose on your own for one night and look what happens..

I take it you went to the ER. Make sure you get to consult with an opthamologist who specializes in medical & surgical eye care.

You don't need to strain your "good" eye by filling out paper work. Let someone ask you the questions and answer them verbally. That person can fill it in for you and you can sign in the appropriate place.

Ask for numbing drops. Insist on it.

Please take good care of you, my friend.

Sorry (((((((((Ryan))))))))) s*h*i*t happens despite all the precautionary procedures and at the *wrong* time, and it makes you wonder if you would do another favour again. If the night shift people are decent, they'd appreciate what you've done, or tried to do, and feel bad for you. Maybe they'll be extra nice to you.

Anyway, while you're wearing an eye patch, please don't scare any kiddies or little ole ladies, though it might be tempting. Grrrrrrr......

I AM glad you're going to be OK. (((((((((ry)))))))))))))) take care

OMG, Ouch! What are the odds?! I'm sorry to hear that happened--glad it wasn't worse, I guess. I'm sure it must have hurt quite a bit. At least you get to take off the patch tomorrow and not later. Feel better {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{Ryan}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Good God, wasn't expecting all this. Thanks everyone. Wantto, I couldn't see from it very well at all when they put the patch on, but tht's pretty typical for a freshly scratched cornea (not the first time I've had this type of injury). I'll have to go back to the doc tomorrow morning and have her take another look at it (she was CUTE Grrrrrrr...... ). September, you're absolutely right, it could have been for the rest of my liaf and I'm greatful that this isn't the case. And a hug and a peck would be awesome. Trying, I won't know if there's permanent damage until tomorrow when the cutie doc looks at it again. If there's no improvement, it's of to the eye doc. Nightdream, my boss is awesome with the paperwork. As much as he hates this kind of thing, he still takes exceptional care of all his guys. LOL Pat, thanks. I wish it were the really cool black pirate eye patch. It's just some gauze folded and taped to my eye to keep the lid closed. Jan, I went to an urgent health care clinic. The doc there are very good with this kind of thing and did for me what a regular eye doc would have. Like I said, if no improvement, it's off to the eye doc. SS, it does piss me off that this happened trying to help someone else out, but I keep telling myself that it was no one's fault. Doesn't really help mych when you're in pain. ((((((((((wantto, angie, buterfly, susan, fuzzy, september, terese, nd, ww, pat, silver, jan, ss, inky))))))))))

Good Lord I feel so loved. Thanks again guys for the concern.

Ry,

I agree totally with Jan on this one. You're not going to do any long-term harm on your good eye with patch on, but don't strain it trying to fill out paperwork....tell ur job (or whoever) that you need help filling out the forms.

Got a parrot named Polly waiting for ya if you get trapped in the eyepatch for too much longer!

Hugz and love,
Jenn

Jay, I work for Square D company. So here's the update. The doc I saw Sunday morning apparantly didn't get all the fragments out so by the time I came in for my follow up this morning, the doc said that my eye was infected and there was still metal in there. He referred me to an eye doc that removed the debris, but he said that the size of the tear in the cornea and the severity of the infection is going to cause some permanent damage. He said that with proper treatment the damage should be limited to me having to wear special glasses/contacts to compensate for the size/location of the scar that's forming on my cornea. The good news is that the eye doc said that I shouldn't have any permanent vision loss so YAY!!! Thanks for all the concern. It means a ton to me.
