Today starts the beginning of National Pet ID and Cesar Millan (aka) Dog Whisperer is asking that everyone have their beloved pets properly ID due to the fact that only 12 to 15 percent of all lost pets are reunited with their owners... the majority of pets who do make their way home have some form of identification on them.

Check out the link below for ideals to the path of proper pet ID (pros & cons).

My kitty Tyger has a tag with my name and number on it. It also has his name on it.

I found out the hard way what happens if you don't have a collar and tag on them.

My new neighbor didn't know he was mine and Tyger being the loving cat he is went into their apartment and they kept him in there. I went looking for him for 3 days and finally took his picture around the complex and when I went there they said oh we didn't know he was yours because he didn't have a collar or tag. That got remedied quickly.

We must all protect what we love - even if we have a fence... in case they get out.

Mine is double chipped... so many vets and humane societies have the old system and not the new... I put both on my dog. I'm not really happy that I needed to do that... at all... since they can track him AND me with it... however, he's too valuable to lose, should we become separated.

what a way to start off the week much less nation pet week..i had to take my pomeranian to the vet today for emergency surgery...he had been attacked from one of the 7 yes 7 pit bulls across the street..i had let him out to do his morning thing while i was in the shower and when he came home 20 mins later he could barely walk..he never leaves my yard, which is quiet big, so i know the pit had to have come in my yard..however, 77 stitches and a drainage tube and a shaved rear end, lots of pain but will heal just fine in time...$979.50 vet bill to boot...nothing i can do about it because i cant prove it was the pit that got him...i am just so thankful he is alive..he is like one of our children...vet put him on pain meds, antibotics and an inflamatory med and the drainage tube with the wound has to be cleaned and flushed out twice a day...needless to say he is getting extra special attention at this time
