Today I had my first ECT treatment. Basically, I was put to sleep and woken up, they told me no seizure had occurred. Turns out, 4 of the 9 people who had the ECT today didn't seizure. They say it might have been the anaesthetic. I might have to change my anti-convulsant meds or something too.

Please keep me in your thoughts for a better treatment on Friday.

Are you supposed to have a seizure in order for it to be considered working?? Won't it work even if you don't seizure? Since this is your 1st treatment you may not see improvement until you've had more treatments. Good luck on Friday...you'll be in my prayers.

No, you have to have the seizure in order for it to work. It happens. They'll get it figured out.
Thanks for this!

Now that your doctor saw what happened, I would think he/she can get the situation resolved, so you can have the "required" seizure! As they told you, they have certainly seen this happen before. So, hang in there--and break a leg or whatever on Friday! (I've been appreciating the posts you have given other people.)
Thanks for this!

(((((Melissa)))))

I hope that everything goes well on Friday ~ that you have the "mild tonic-clonic" that they're looking for to relieve you soon.

Although I feel exceptionally reluctant to say, "Have a happy seizure!", I do wish you the best for Friday.

Thought I'd just post an update...the 2nd treatment was a success! I actually had a seizure, they said. I can feel the improvement in my mental health as well, so I'm very encouraged. Thanks for the good lucks, everyone.
Thanks for this!
