Back in the early 70's, as a young adult, when I first began having mental health issues, my then P doc used biofeedback, along with other treatments. I did find it very beneficial, but unfortunately, he grew ill, and had to close his practice.
I've never again received such therapy, but I do see now that it's becoming more mainstream again, and I'm glad! For many reasons! Also know it can help a lot of other conditions, though may not be for everyone. And when I saw my current Pdoc, he did tell me that he was going to start with it again, and referred me to a T who uses, which fortunately, is a part of an organization not only covered by insurance now, but some usage will be covered under hub's employee benefits. I do feel very blessed and glad about this.
I know for some who don't have such access right now, there is a lot of information online about it, and associated techniques, etc, that people may find helpful. I do see that PC itself has an article on home page now, about biofeedback and anxiety! Glad to see it, as I knew also there was a stigma associated with scientology, etc. Plus,I have a friend who is a therapist with military, and they are now using it with their PTSD vets in some areas!
Anyway, sorry about being so wordy, just really wanted to start a discussion about biofeedback. Know anything about it, any experiences, opinions, etc. Basically, from what I understand it helps with the mind-body connection and forming new ways of thinking and coping, and that, in some ways, like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy perhaps. Would love to hear comments equally from laymen and professionals, if available, and so inclined. Thanks!

dont have too much to say on it but if it is used to treat anxiety, i think i will try it. i used it as a teen for headaches so maybe it is time to pull out the techniques again.

I am doing it right now and it is working wonders on many of my issues not just anxiety. I HIGHLY recommend it for anyone no matter what mental, and even sometimes physical, issues they have. I cannot say enough about how beneficial it has been and I am only 2.5 months in.
Thanks for this!

glad to hear that, Kate. Maybe more will have access to the biofeedback techniques in the future. It wouldn't surprise me. Feel free to post again in the future, re your usage, if you desire. Thanks!
