Is anyone familiar this kind of treatment for post traumatic syndrome? It was explained to be as a therapist shines a light into your eyes and it some how affects the blood vessels in your eyes and brings back bad memories and you deal with it right there and try to release it.

Yes, I've tried EMDR but not for PTSD. It seem to work for a few issues that was troubling me. Before I started EDMR, I was a skeptic and didn't think it would work. If you do try this form of treatment, let us know how it work works out for you.

Best of luck,

I did EMDR for PTSD. It is pretty amazing - however - it was the first time I felt dissociation 100%, while fully aware. The trauma that was being addressed was a blacked out moment, when my brother was attacked by a dog (super young) - and my brain said - HELL NO - even with EMDR - but it was so close that I began spinning in a black hole of dissociation to keep it at bay. Some things just weren't meant to be recovered - and I accept that now. I really found it amazing that my Brain is smart enough to take care of that itself - no matter how hard anyone has ever tried to dig it up. You might wonder why I would try - but its because of my deep seeded fear of dogs - yet having them - and my boys loving them. I just wanted to be free of the automatic fear response to just a plain bark that I have never been able to get over - its to deep in there !!! and there it will stay. Another note - is that since learning what it feels like to dissociate - I find it happens - when I am super stressed - luckily for me it is very momentary. Just a space out - to remove me for enough time to cope.
