I'm unable to sleep. Never sleep through the night. Used to use vivarion root straight from the plant.

Benedryle- not working
Codeine- for pain, not working
Amitriptyline-not even close

Ambien-tried, too foggy in am

I want to sleep. I want to lie down at night and not awake till morning!!

Help me please.

I suggest you talk to a doctor about your situation. Is it possible that you have sleep apnea?

I had my yearly physical today. My MD wants me to discuss sleep meds w/ a psychiatrist. I'm in the process of switching psych md due to cost so will have to wait.

I'm using Nyquil PM sleep aid for now. I need to order more natural valerin root.

Valarian root works in an opposite way for some people. eg: I used to have good results. Then my body metabolism changed. Now it has opposite effect.

There is a lot of negative hype about Kava Kava. But if someone does not have liver damage, and if it is used properly it is very safe. I have spoken with 2 very respected herbalists about it. The warnings were generated because people took absurd amounts of it. on an ongoing basis. They consequently developed liver damage.

Finally, did your doctor check thyroid and adrenal function when doing your physical? Especially thyroid. Because sometimes it can be linked to sleep problems. It probably is not the case for you. Just thought I would mention it anyway.

Your user name leads me to believe you eat a lot of fish. I've had trouble sleeping and waking up wide awake in the night after taking fish oil supplements. If you are consuming a lot of fish or fish oil I'd suggest laying off for a while and see if that helps.
