I had been on Norco since July for many different conditions that were very painful. I have been coming off of them for 3 days and my suicidal thoughts have escalated. Now, at first I didn't connect the two, but I went to my psychiatrist and he asked me some questions like do I have the chills, are my muscles spasming, etc. all of which I had. He said, you don't need me to change your meds, you need me to help you detox! I was like, WHAT? I'm not a druggie (sorry if I offend. I couldn't think of another word). I don't want to be on the Norco! He said that I am not a druggie. He said that a lot of people get hooked on painkillers and don't even know that they are hooked. AHA!
I wanted to post this here because I was afraid that I was going to end up in the mental hospital, which could still happen if these meds I am on now don't drown out the SUI thoughts! Let's hope not! I, also, wanted others to know that getting hooked on a pain killer seems to be pretty normal if on it too long. If you are coming off of it, DON'T DO IT ALONE!!! You can get help! I wish I would have known about this before I tried to ween myself off of it! Trust me...I KNOW!!! ![]() ![]()

Yes, I've met people in the hospital who were detoxing from pain meds they were taking legitimately. I know one person now in group, who is in tremendous physical pain and has no choice but to take heavy pain mess, and her family is more worried about her addiction than her constant pain.
Good luck! |
