I haven't had emdr but I worked in an office with a counselor who did it. I used to tell people it was a miracle treatment I saw so much success with it. people just changed so much with it. basically when you experience a trauma, all the chemicals released and information from that trauma are trapped in your brain because the brain does not know how to process it. whenever anything remotely close to that trauma happens, all those memories are triggered again because they have never been processed. through the process of emdr, that bundle becomes processed so it cannot become triggered again. it really does work wonders. if you have the opportunity to try it, I highly suggest it. take care.

I had several sessions but didn't really get much from it. Not sure I was instructed properly as it just seemed forced. Haven't been back to my T in a few months as she insisted I go on an AD before she would continue. Was feeling fine then but am actually depressed since trying meds.

I am trying it now. Not sure how it will turn out in the end, but I was kind of surprised at all the feelings that got churned up dealing with things I thought I had put behind me. This is giving me the chance to work through and process those things because I am now seeing how those old things are impacting my life negatively now. Good luck to you!

I am so glad you asked this question. I was going to ask about the same thing and found this. It was very helpful. Thanks! Also my therapist has been training to do EMDR and would like to use it with me. I will admit I am a little nervous about the whole thing myself but I think I am going to go through with it as not much else has really helped with my trauma issues.
