Anyone gone through, or know anyone who has gone through rTMS? I seem to have become treatment resistant for depression and am seriously considering rTMS. Wondering how others have faired with it.

Hi AllHeart! I have not had any experience with TMS but I have been looking into it myself. I actually had a consultation this last Friday at my local center and we are looking into seeing if I can get my insurance to cover it (keep your fingers crossed for me!)
I've heard the good and bad. There have been some wonderfull stories of people going into "remission" as the office manager put it, but I've also heard of people who say that it didn't work for them at all. It seems like a hit or miss kind of situation. I've also read online about some who say it made their depression worse (very few though). I would be interested also to hear any experiences anyone has had on this site with TMS
Good luck!

I did TMS. Insurance covered all but the copay. That meant that it cost me around $740. $20 per visit 36 visits.

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. I had gone through about 20 sessions. Every day except weekends and my mood just kept dropping. I got through just about 30 sessions and in agreement with the doc I stopped. He had never had anyone get worse on it. I would recommend trying it. It's a bit painful at first but you'll get used to it and it's not that bad.

Ask me anything.

I had 36 sessions and unfortunately did not respond to it at all. Yes, a little uncomfortable at first but no big deal. I wish it would have done something...

A fellow-member of a mood disorders therapy group that I used to go to had treatment-resistant depression.

She reported that she found TMS very helpful.

For those of you that have had it or had friends that had it, do you know if it was billed through their medical insurance or their Behavorial health benefits?
