I wondered if people here are doing or have done ECT, and how often and long you have been doing it.

I have been doing it every 2 weeks for the past 2 years. My pdoc is the one doing it, and I have no side effects. It is the only thing that helps my strong suicidal thoughts and actions. But everyone seems surprised at how long I've been doing it.......from the nurse practitioners who do my H&Ps to the other drs who do it if my dr is gone. I have recently requested that only my dr do it and that if he is going to be away that they reschedule me.

My therapist thinks it is helping.

Anyone else receiving ECT and have a story to share?

I only did the initial treatments for ECT. First round I did 9. Three years later I did a series of 8. I did not do maintenance treatments, nor would I. It would be too expensive, too time-consuming, and too risky for me personally. Glad they are working for you on a maintenance basis.

From early November to March, twice a week. Then thrice once a week, thrice once every two weeks, and I'm now halfway through the four times once every three weeks. It hasn't helped a lot.
