3 and a half years ago I entered a deep brain stimulation (DBS) protocol to cope with my treatment-resistant depression. First used for Parkinson's desease DBS is now used for obssesive-compulsive disorder and major depression.

I would like to share my experience with other DBS patients. I'd be delighted to help persons considering this treatment.
Thanks for this!

Thank you

I am very interested. I would like to hear of your experiences with deep brain stimulation. Please!!

I am concerned that you haven't posted a follow up. Are you OK?
Thanks for this!

My insurance won't touch it even though it's been around since the 1980's. Haven't read too many success stories either

DBS really changed my life.

After the surgery, it took a little more than a year for my psychiatrist to find the right settings. But since 18 months I am really feeling fine.

I am currently looking for a new job after long years of inactivity.

Before that I was hospitalized more than twenty times. I tested nearly all medications available in France. I had 18 ECT. Nothing worked fine for me and I was hopeless. Until my psychiatrist proposed me for the first french protocole for treatment-resistant depression.

I will be pleased to answer specific questions if any.

So you didn't have to pay anything? Here in the US my insurance won't cover a penny of it. So frustrating knowing something is out there that might help & I can't access it.

Surgery? What exactly is DBS? I'd be very interested to know about it.
