Thought I would share my experience with Neurofeedback because I haven't seen much posted on this topic...
![]() Neurofeedback involves sitting quietly with a few electrodes on your scalp. You watch a TV screen and make a plane (or other vehicle) go through an obstacle course of hills, valleys etc... If you keep your mind focused the plane goes faster, if you're distracted it sputters and slows down. Your mind is rewarded when your specific brain waves are calm...pretty cool stuff. I had 8-sessions of Neurofeedback about 18-months ago for depression. I didn't think it was doing anything so I stopped. BUT...I noticed something unusual had happened. After 25-years of suffering horrendous nightmares usually 3-5 times a week, the nightmares disappeared. TOTALLY GONE! Not one nightmare in 18-months- WOW- (and my private insurance, Blue Cross paid for it) Since this is the ONLY therapy (meds or otherwise) that actually did anything for me, I'm going to try it again. This time, I found a Neurologist who uses a new 128 channel Dense Array EEG machine rather than the 6 lead machine I used before. Who knows? ![]()

That is really cool!
Out of curiosity, are there different types of neurofeedback, and how do they work? |
