Has anyone here done a virtual IOP? What is it like? Was it helpful? There is one that I am applying to. It's 5 days a week, Monday through Friday, from 3 to 6 PM. I'd have to leave work a little early but I already cleared that with my boss. The place is doing an insurance verification. I don't know that my insurance will cover it but I think it will. I'm hopeful anyway. I hope this will help keep me from being in crisis all the time. I don't get to see my T very much because he works only two days a week. And I need a later appointment because of work. This IOP does DBT, ACT, and CBT. I know what two of those are. I don't know what ACT is. I've been waiting to hear back from them. Just wondered if anyone had done one of these and if it was helpful. I'm hoping it helps with my depression and self harm.

I'm wondering the same thing about how a virtual IOP will be. I've found in-person IOP very helpful for dealing with specific issues, but I'm wondering how the experience will transfer to on-line. I'm scheduled to start a heavy duty trauma IOP in a few weeks, and the therapy is really intense so I'm a bit concerned. Will be interested in others' experiences.
ACT stands for as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, but that's about all I know about it. Hope you have a good experience. |

The IOP called me. They said they want me to do an in person (not virtual) IOP because of the hallucinations. But theirs is too far away. So their referral team is going to reach out to me in 24 to 48 hours to see what they find. I doubt they find anything close to me that will work. I live in a remote area. We have one hospital that is leaving us within the next couple of years (It isn't earthquake safe). And everything else is like an hour and a half away one way. So it looks like an IOP won't work. I'm kind of disappointed. I was hoping to have more care.

I'm sorry SlumberKitty, that must be really disappointing. I hope they're able to find some other program to refer you to.

I have a referral to another place and an intake tomorrow. I still don't know what hours or days they operate so I have no idea if it will work for my work schedule but I am going to the intake anyway. I have to drive a good 2 hours to get there but they said I could do virtual so I am banking on that. Hopefully it goes well and their schedule will work around my schedule.
