I've done EMDR and it did help me a bit.
The main trauma therapy I did was a really intense 8 week program, 5 half days a week. It was a mix of education, CBT, and relational therapy with some art therapy thrown in. It's kind of hard to describe but it didn't deal with processing the trauma, like EMDR does, instead it focused on the effects of trauma in your life now, and how to better manage them. Right now, I'm in a 9 month group that's 2 hours a week. It's relational therapy and I'm finding it really helpful. I'm sorry you don't have supports IRL. I found my supports to be really important, in turning my life around. |
