We're a reptile family and have had snakes as pets. My son has a huge poster of snake species on his bedroom wall. Despite this, we weren't able to identify this beauty.

Just a common "garden" or "garter" snake! I am not sure if you have them or not where you are.. Im in Cape Breton Nova Scotia Canada.

You see them all the time but this guy is big.. do give a frame of reference he is on a truck hood!

What a lovely snake. I got over my fear of snakes when I was in college and my BF had a pet snake.

He is quite the charming looking guy. I love the way the evening sun is glinting off him.

Here are some other examples of "garter snakes"- they make up a HUGE family of snakes.

Thank you for sharing your visitor!!

I love snakes too, and there are so many fascinating looking snakes out there. We get garden snakes where I'm at, but I have yet to see one that big!!!

Often times we will see the babies out basking in the sun on a rock or something!!

I kind of wish I could have a snake, but I have six pets already, plus I have a difficult time feeding them mice/rats because I feel so sad for them. I know it's just the nature of things, but I get so attached to every type of critter....

Take care!!
