LOL!
Okay, but seriously. You know how dogs can get that wet dog smell? My youngest cat cuddled up to me earlier and he has a very catty smell. Its not quite -unpleasant- per se, but its not exactly -pleasant- either. Does he need a bath? He doesnt go outside but they (3 cats) share the three litters, so im thinking maybe they need to be cleaned more or something? I dont know.. i half dump them everyday and spend a fortune in litter. I just dont really care for the cat smell. |

I wash my cats once to twice a year even though they are inside cats because of the cat smell lol. My male cat right now really needs a bath right now. Good luck with giving your cat a bath!

my male cat that I talk about has extra toes and claws too. He hates water alot. Usually it takes both my mom and I to get him washed. We use the kitchen sink. I fill up the sink half way with warm soapy water then hold both sets of legs (or if your by yourself then just the front legs). This part gets them wet and some soap on them. Then I put more soap on while kinda holding him down. By this time I have drained the sink. Then I turn on some warm running water and again hold his front legs and run him under the water to get the soap off. I will say none of this is made easy by him or the other animals trying to save him because he is meowing so loud by this point lol. Good luck!

Washing a cat? That's something I would never think to do. They wash themselves. Mine have only a weak fur smell, if any at all.

Rainbowzz, I've had to give my cats baths in the past. I use a technique similar to what Rmdctc described except I use the bathtub. After chasing a dripping wet soapy cat around the house I learned to keep the bathroom door shut until the job is finished.

Helpful tip: I have learned that it is easier to start bathing Kitty when she is very little. That way, she will get used to getting a bath.

I guess I'm lucky.. I've never had to give my cats a bath. The only cat 'smell' they ever get is the nasty cat food breath. Smells like wet cat food, when I don't even feed them we cat food, lol. Weird.
Hope your cat doesn't mind a bath! |

sometimes the cat litter can make smells more noticeable. i like fresh step brand. it seems to keep the stink in the box. sometimes my cats have gas....yuck. and sometimes when they finish eating they come to me and want to rub my face...stinky breath. if you can't get your cat to take a real bath try looking for pet wipes. they work like baby wipes but made especially for cats. read the labels, some are scented so it covers the yucky odor.

What I do once a week is wipe my cat down with pet wipes. I brush him alot too. My cat's coat smells really fresh and clean and it's safe for pets. They have them at walmart for only $2 for about 18 wipes. They're especially made for pets. He then licks it afterwards, go figure, but that should help. Cat's don't really need to be bathed though, they do clean themselves. I've never bathed my cat, probably never will, too much of a hassle with him.
