Okay so I felt I needed to share what she did this time. My parents have a TV cabnet that in the middle has glass that is a little reflective but you can see though it. The other night she was walking by it and started staring into it like a window. She then in a very low deep growl (she is a med sized dog) she growled for abut 5 minutes then went into a barking fit. Then she left and every time she walked past it she looked at the dog inside the glass. She then asked to go outside we think she wanted out to go play with the dog she was seeing. We don't think she has figured out it is her yet.

I just thought I would share.

That is so funny and cute Doll!!

When my Yorkie was about 4 months old she was sitting in front of the oven door. She started to growl and bark at "the other dog" looking back at her. I choose not to interrupt her because it was so funny to watch her scold "the other dog". She carried on like this for about 4 minutes pacing back and forth from the kitchen to the living room. Each time she came back she was upset that "the other dog" was still there and wasn't scared off by her barking!

This is soooooo funny to watch when animals do this!!! My dog has seen her reflection in the slider door at night and just barks and goes crazy!! She likes to watch the animal planet too and will start whining when she sees another dog on the TV.

Funnier still...my cats like to follow me into the bathroom and they jump up on the counter. When my youngest cat sees her reflection in the mirror, all her hair stands up on her back and she arches her spine up!! She doesn't hiss at herself, but she'll pace back and forth on the counter in this posture as if she were saying "hey...this is my neck of the woods...don't you dare come any closer!!" A couple of times she has started batting at her reflection in the mirror and it's cute cause she'll see her own reflection batting back and she'll jump....like "ooh...it almost got me!!"

Wouldn't it be nice sometimes,,,,if we too,,could not recognise ourselves in the mirror....

Self awareness has its drawbacks....

Funny dog stories guys , they do do the funniest things sometimes.

When my dog was younger he was laying on the heater vent in the hallway
when his dog tag fell between the vent slots and turned just enough so that
when I startled him he jumped up taking the whole 10 pound vent with him.
He was in an absolute panic . It was funny at the time but not funny for him.

Thanks for sharing your stories , much appreciated .

oh I"ve got a dog story!

I had been gone from home for almost two weeks in Washington D.C. and the day I came home I got out the car and called for my dog, she was so excited she came running towards me and I had my arms outstretched to catch her when she lept into my arms, the poor thing was so excited she didn't watch where she was running and ran straight into the side of the house. She was a little dazed and stumbled around then looked at the house like "How the hell did that get there?" and then came prancing over to me and jumped in my arms. I couldn't stop laughing, talk about a homecoming!

She does things like this all the time.

She has also gotten her dog tags stuck in the heater vents not once but twice.

She has taken a 4 pack of canned air our the dog door and chewed it up in the back yard.

She took rolls of duck tape, masking tape, drywall tape and chew them to the point unrolling it was impossible.

Then she took a 6 ft orange flag for an ATV out the dog door flag first she got it at such an angle that it got stuck.

She does things like this all the time. I will have to post more as she does things. Or as I think about the things.

Thanks for the stories.

Another story was when my dog was still a puppy . He was around
4 months old when I had him out to a lake nearby . As I was
skipping rocks I turned around and he was gone . I panicked
because he had a lease on him and I was scared he might get
tangled somewhere in the woods where if he heard me , he could not
come to me. I hollered his name for about twenty minutes ,
running up paths and panicking . How could I do something so stupid
and irresponsible. It was getting dark and I was praying to God,
please let me find him Dear Lord . I had a flashlight but it was
back at my pickup truck , so I ran to go get it which was about
a half mile away. From a distance guess what I saw , my dog
sitting by the driver's side of my truck waiting patiently for
me . I never got angry , all I said was "Thank you God".
Scared me to death. Ever since that , when I let him go , I remove
his lease.

I thought of more that Spirit has done. She would take 12 or 24 packs of soda and tear up the box into tiny pieces nd then she kicks the cans around and plays with them. we come home to cans all over the 3 car garage lol.

the other fun one was the time when the wind blow over the trash can and she spralled the trash all over the back yard, she had help from Breeze on that one.

She also likes to chase icecubes in the kid pool that is hers. She still doesn't understand that the ice melts though and she will spend like 10 min looking for the ice cubes.

Supposedly animals can't see two dimensional images like a reflection or so says the "experts". This is based on the lack of a certain kind of cell in animals retinas. Sorry I'm not more specific, it's late and my brain is tired. Can't remember the details.

Then I read stories like this or one of my animals reacts to their own reflection and I think "Yeah right! Can't see themselves!"

AWW thats so cute...my elderly Japanese spitz dog (scoobie) "watches" tv and if there is another dog or animal he'll bark and will investigate the back of the tv for the animal and then will rush off to the door to see if its outside. You can see the puzzelment in his eyes everytime lol..he's such a wonderful friend and I miss him so much as he's staying with my hubby while I sort myself out.
