We have a Mini Dachshund, Crickett, who just turned 3 on Christmas Eve. We got her from the North American Dachshund Rescue Group. She is full of love and is so funny!! I have a wire crate in the living room with a blaket draped over the top and down the 3 sides, but it is open in the front - I made it a "den" for the dogs to sleep in. I put a pillow with an old pillow case on it and placed that in the wire crate - it fits perfect. Our little Crickett uses it as a sleeping bag! She digs at the pillow case until she creates an opening her head will fit into and she climbs in, turns around inside the pillow case, and sticks her head outside the pillow case, and that's how she sleeps! The first time she did that we were in total awe of her!! All we could see was her little nose sticking out of the pillow case!! It was so funny - now it's just normal to watch her do this on a daily basis. (We hope to catch it on tape one day and send it in to America's Funniest Home Videos.)
We also have a tiny little Mutipoo (half Maltese and Poodle). Zach is 2 years old, all white and fluffy! He has become a pillow for Crickett. They always snuggle up to sleep (if Crickett isn't in her "sleeping bag") and Zach becomes a soft pillow with a heart beat. They are unseperateable - when Zach goes to the groomer Crickett has to go too - she gets her nails trimmed... The two dogs know when it's bed time - they both go into the bedroom and crawl into the big dod bed at 9pm everynight... Crickett leads the way with Zach right behind her and into the bed they go. Zach lets Crickett get in first as she burrows under an old blanket I put on the dog bed, then Zach snuggles down next to her, the "Lump" in the blanket. That's the last we see of them until my husband gets up to go to work in the mornings. They are a couple of characters!! These two dogs have filled the hole my two sons have left in my heart when they moved out to start thier own lives. The dogs were a life saver for me! Very good medicine for a Mother going through the empty nest sydrom. ![]() Last edited by BashfullOne; Jan 27, 2010 at 09:36 AM. Reason: it needed some corrections |

Aww, that's so sweet. Dogs are wonderful parts of a person's life.

Awww that's so cute - I would love to see a picture of that. We love our dog too. They're so affectionate and social. It kind of like having a 2 yr old child around.

At the end of the day my house looks like I run a day care center for toodlers! Little stuffed squeaky toys every where!! I know more than pick them up and they are scattered all over the place again! I finally decided to just pick them up once when I have to vacuum and at night when I go to bed.
