So my Maine Coon "Kitty," has fleas. I had treated him a month or so ago with Frontline. He was in the bathroom with me last night, and I picked a black thing off him, which jumped out of my hand. Ugh, a flea. I looked at him more closely and found him crawling with fleas! I treated him with what I had onhand...Revolution. This morning, still crawling with fleas. So, I went out and bought some Frontline Plus. I also gave him a Capstar, which is supposed to kill all fleas on the body. I've locked him in the garage today, hoping the fleas will all be gone soon. Besides the fact that I've bombarded him with a lot of insectiside, I am having the psychosomatic response of itching all over!

I do think they are becoming immune. Frontline used to work very well on our pets and now it doesn't. I can't remember the last thing we used, but it seemed to do ok. It's frustrating.

I've been so lucky; my cats have had fleas/ticks only for specific reasons (one was a stray when I got her and covered in fleas and had worms, etc. and both, one season was bad and they were both covered with ticks) and taking them to the vet once stopped that for good. However, I have a friend whose two cats and whole house have been flea invested forever it seems, and he's tried everything and nothing works. He takes care of my cats when we're away and comes over once or twice a week otherwise and I'm so terrified he'll bring fleas but he wears white socks :-) and I've never seen a flea yet (in five years here).

FrontLine no longer works on my pets. Fleas definitely don't care and survive through most treatments. Fortunately, it is winter now so my dogs don't have fleas. Seems to be a summer thing.
