Well...summer's here, and I'm off work. I've told myself I would like to take a trip to Lake Erie to my rock hunting grounds. Going away will be costly in terms of my pets, though. Should I board them? Or try to find someone to house/pet sit? I've had no luck in finding someone to stay at my house. With three pets, this will cost me an arm and a leg to board them. I have neighbors who would "watch " them, making sure they have food and water, and I always have paid them in the past. There are three pets...two dogs and a cat. I have a sunroom in which the dogs stay at night, and I try to make sure the cat is inside the garage at night. He gets wild if he can't go out during the day.

I've used the dilemma of my pets as an excuse to not travel. What are your suggestions?

How long are you away for?

Have you asked you neighbours if they would like to look after your animals?

Either way it would be good for you to have a break.......
Thanks for this!

Thanks, Possum220,
I would not be away more than a few days...less than a week for sure. I think you have a good idea to ask my neighbors. I've done this before and paid them (middle school and high school age kids), and they seem to like that job. Their parents are very conscientious too. They would be sure that the two dogs were inside at night and the kitty too.
Thanks again!

Patty, I go along with asking the neighbor kids, especially if they've looked after your pets before. Being kids they might be willing to spend a little time with the animals playing with them and keeping them company.

It's tough trying to go away when you have critters depending on you. I have three horses, three dogs, three cats and a goldfish to find sitters for if I'm going to be away more than overnight. Talk about tough to find a sitter!
