Hi all~

I'm getting back into my practice of portraits and was wondering if anyone here would be interested in having a portrait of their pet done..for free, of course..lol.

I need the practice and the variety of pets would be a welcomed challenge for me to hone in on.

If you're interested, let me know..maybe send me a pm and we can go from there.
I will require a clear, reasonably close picture of your pet, preferably one with good lighting to enable me to see the detail for accuracy. The better the photo of your pet, the more close to detail I can be.

I will be using my tablet and my Corel painterX program, so it is all electronically done. There will be no need for the release of personal info to receive the final product as I can simply send it to you via email...or I can even post it on my profile page and you can copy n paste the finished portrait that way.....Whatever suits you, no matter to me.

If you were to look on my profile page and into the "Painted Portraits" album, you will see 2 pics I had done of pets. One is of my brother's cat, and the other is of my parrot.
I did portraits from photos. After I finished my brother's piece, I sent it to him via email, he burned it to disc, and took it down to have it transfered to canvas. Worked wonderfully. The results are fantastic.

Anyway....offer stands....

That's great, Shangrala, that you can do pet portraits, as well as other art. I'm going to suggest, kindly, that you consider not offering to do such work for free. Your talent and work are worth much. You spend your valuable time and talent creating something unique, and for this you should receive payment. I don't mean to criticize you for your generous offer, but I've done much the same myself in the past, and I find people are all to ready to accept this from an artist. I've also done the pet portraits, and since each pet's features are unique, the time involved with rendering a likeness can be challenging (along with the joy of creating a work of art!). When charging for this service, maybe consider the amount of hours it takes and place an hourly charge on the final product.

You're sweet, and like many artists, you have an artists' caring soul. Let people show their value by paying you for your work!
Love
Patty

Sorry Patty , but I have to disagree with you.
I'm like Mary and I would get a great feeling if I created something for someone , just knowing they appreciated my work and it made them happy would be enough for me.
I'm not saying she should spend all her valuable time creating artworks for others . It helps her also in creating these pieces of art.
I think I would let her decide to charge or not to charge.
Just my opinion on the subject.

Well, thank you all for replying.

Actually, the offer stands for the time being as I can use the practice.
I just did another piece of one of my former loving Rotties, Baby, (just included it in my album), and am currently working on my other Rottie, Chips. Thought it would be nice to do a couple tribute pieces in their memory.

Once my practice is satisfied, though, the freebie offer expires..lol. The entire point of the practice is so to hone the skill so I can begin to charge for my work...(lacking that confidence sorta thing).

Thanks again, all.

I wish I could draw like you. I would love to be able to do portraits. Instead I do custom colorings on dog bodies on a site that I am on. I am pretty new to it and I use PS. Wanna see one?
