I just received an e-mail this morning that the horse I was "virtual" fostering had to be euthanized 2 weeks ago. I checked their website; his pictures have been taken down and there's nothing written about him......that bothers me. This is the e-mail I sent the rescue group:

That's terrible news.

I checked your website. Have Buddy's pictures been taken down already? If Eddie isn't being fostered already my cheques can go towards him. I think I have sent you cheques up to and including Feb 2011 if that's not correct let me know and I will send you some more.

Thanks again for all your work that you do.

Sad horse news

Yes I wish they had let me know too. I'm not sure what the details are and I know sometimes with horses it's a quick decision that you make with the vet, but yes I would have liked to say goodbye.

Yes this group does a really great job taking care of the horses. They rescue a lot of the horses from auctions (most are being saved from going to slaughter).

My initial reaction was that I wasn't going to donate anymore money to them, because I felt that it was inappropriate that Buddy's information was taken down from the website and there was no mention of his euthanasia. I also didn't appreciate being notified 2 weeks after he was euthanized.

I thought about it and part of the problem is the person who created the rescue group (it's done from her farm) is a great animal/horse person, but her people skills are lacking. Also, her main focus is the horses (which is a good thing), but she probably has to much on her plate to keep up with the PR/website end of things. I will continue to donate because she is taking great care of the horses and I would rather my money go to a "grass roots" group then a top heavy humane society.

Wow, 28. Quite the old gentleman. I'm glad his last days were lived with some dignity. I'm also glad that you feel oK with your choice of charity. Sometimes the best people for the jobs of caring for others, human or animal, aren't always the best PR folks. They are too busy out doing. sorry for your troubles, dear. HUGGGGSSSS

Hello

What a lovely horse and what a good soul you are. I am sure that the horse is living on in spirit, he will always be in your memories and heart and is only ever a thought away.

The book "Animals in the Afterlife" from amazon is excellent.

So sorry to hear about Buddy.

But just think, he's probably running through green pastures, drinking from clear streams and eating all the sweet apples he can find right now.
Thanks for this!
