When I read your post I thought of my lassie dog Patra. She was 14 last month and I had to put her down because she was in alot of pain and no hope of recovery. She was the smartest dog learning everything I taught her. She knew all normal and advanced commands, sign language commands, would point out by touching different items I would ask her to show me but the best was she loved people. She was a collie and so beautiful. I still can sense her presence when I think of her.

Woody does sound like Lassie. I still miss my little sheltie--she was one of those that look like "little lassies." She died earlier this summer at "96" in people age. The sweetest little dog I've ever known.

I don't guess we ever completely get over our pet's passing , do we? I hope at least you can find a dog a bit like Woody one of these days. I do think the story of Timmy and Lassie was special--and that all kids ought to have a dog!
Thanks for this!
