I was browsing the internet for a pic to send a friend and came across this. It reminds me of my girl. She passed this year after giving me many years of comfort and companionship. She is greatly missed.

Her name was Princess but she was more of a Queen

Even though her name was very common she was anything but common. She was like one of those therapy dogs....super intelligent and loved everyone. She always had to be touching someone....especially me. If she sat next to you she would have to lean on you...just a bit to let you know she was there or lay her head on my foot. After over 14 years of her "touch" I am quite lost without her.

Thank you, Fresia. I needed to get some of that out again. People expect us to just "move on". I still wonder....how that is done.

Sounds like she was a perfect dog all around. What a blessing. I feel the same way about my Bernese mountain dog, Geneva, who passed this year. I still expect to see her when I walk into a room, and sometimes I can almost hear her walking through the house at night. She had a very distinctive bark. My neighbor swears she hears her bark on occasion. Okay, maybe we're just crazy.

It might be too soon, but have you thought of getting another dog?
Thanks for this!

Aww, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it must be. I can't imagine losing my dog. He's there for me in so many ways. I love how dogs can love you so much, and make you feel so complete sometimes. I know that I would miss that comfort if my dog was gone.

Take some time to move on, eventually you'll smile instead of cry when you think of her, and the wound will start to heal. She was lucky to have an owner who loved her so much.

It is so hard to lose one of our furry family members. I miss my beagle so much. I had to put her down 3 years ago due to cancer. But I think of her often. I take much comfort in the below poem:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

(((((((((((Muser))))))))))))) I'm so sorry for the loss of Princess. Losing a beloved animal companion is devastating. For many of us, they are our children. Thanks for telling us about her. She sounds like an angel!

Ahhhh, Kathy....I remember when we talked earlier this year.

I've been looking but my partner says "no way." I've been looking on the rescue sites....which is torture because I know they need a home as much as I need a furry friend. I'm going to wait until spring and one may follow me home. (so what if I drive 100 miles, pay a shelter fee, and put it in my car...that still counts, right?

Thanks, Yesterdays. She was my baby for sure. She was so much a part of my every day....so much a part of the family.

Your words are a comfort....to know people understand....that unconditional love. There are dogs and cats....birds and fish....but some are companions.

I love that, sundog. She was an angle. When I was with her things just didn't bother me so much.

To best describe her I would say....she was love in a fur coat.
