She is cuddled up next to me, and puts her paw on the laptop keyboard when I stop petting her. I am so glad to have her in my life. She's one of the most loving beings I've ever known, and sometimes is the only thing that keeps me going. Pets really can have an amazing effect on our lives.
Thanks for this!

Ahhhhh, they are so wonderful and what great moments those are! They do have amazing effects on our lives.

If you don't mind my asking, what kind of dog is she?

She's a black miniature schnauzer. Her name is Erma. I had another one, named Max, who passed away last May at the age of ten. I miss him a lot, but Erma really helped me heal. I got her through a rescue--she was in a kill shelter in Kentucky. It's hard to believe that anyone would give this dog up. She is extremely good natured and well behaved. I'm very lucky.

I'm sorry to hear about Max; they really never leave us. I am so sorry for your loss.

Bless you for rescuing Erma. My grandmother would love you, two reasons: the rescue and that her name is/was Erma - she thought no one ever liked her name (we told her she was being silly) and is now on such an adorable, little one. Mini schnauzers ARE so adorable and such beautiful coats. I'm glad you found each other. All the best to you both in your endeavors and adventures together!

I agree that pets give us meaning at times. It is so nice that she has bonded with you so well given what a horrific experience being in a kill shelter must have been for her. I hope you have a long and loving relationship together

Isn't it amazing how much love they bring? My two are like my children... I couldn't love them any more if I had given birth to them myself. Both are shelter rescues and it makes me want to cry thinking that someone gave them up. But they are MY babies now and I spoil them rotten!
Thanks for this!

My little one lies in front of my keyboard and tries to get on my shoulder when I stop loving her. It's hard to work but she makes everything worthwhile. I am glad Erma gives you so much comfort.
