Ok, I'm unfortunately still living in the flat with my ex. I am very worried about the welfare of her cat.
She doesn't take care of her, I'm the one who feeds her mostly. She hasn't cleaned her litter tray....ever. I have been doing that but because of my disability I find it physically difficult to do. So I haven't been able to. I actually can't afford the kitty litter. I've been buying the cat food because my ex keeps forgetting to.
Worst of all, the poor cat threw up again this morning and I told my ex, but I returned home this evening to find the vomit still there.
I really want to clean it up but I've done this so often, I really shouldn't do it, she isn't my cat.

I think the cat is ill ut my ex refuses to take her to the vet. She doesn't deserve the cat. I want to kidnap it and take her to the cat shelter, where someone loving will rescue her. I can't afford to steal her and have her as my own, as much as I'd love to.

Why have a cat if you ignore it? And if you can't afford to take care of a cat, you don't deserve to have one.

Legally, what can I do? I can't just take the cat to the shelter, that's stealing.
I want to tell off my ex and get her to step up, but I'm too scared to. She's kind of mean.

It wouldn't work to report her for animal neglect because even though she is neglecting the cat you are taking on the responsibility of caring for the cat. I like your idea of taking the cat to a shelter. It is a shame she treats you and the cat poorly.

It's extremely selfish. The cat is a living, feeling creature, who needs love and nurture. I bet if my ex was ignored, starving and having to use a toilet that hasn't been cleaned in months she'd be pretty sick too.

But how can I take her to ashelter when she isn't mine? Hm...maybe I'll sneak her out the day I move out......

as hard as it is, taking her to the shelter is the best option!

we aquired our cat not more than 2 months ago cos our neighbour claimed he was feeding her but i know he wasn't after his gf walked out!

he wasnt feedng her so she kept coming in to ours for weeks and in the end we bought cat food.

he was hardly there, she was out like 24 hours a day so we just left the door open, let her in and out when she wanted and she decided to stay with us!

at the end of the day, cats own people not the other way around!

Haha! That's a great story! Cats definitely pick their owners. My ex's cat has taken to sleeping on my bed, and is right now curled up next to ME! Sigh. I so wish I could take her. We live in a flat so the chances of her escaping are nil.
Oh, the ex actually cleaned up the cat sick. Sort of. I think she did it when I went to bed, and she must have realised I wasn't going to cave in and do it this time.

Poor kitty cat, who couldn't spoil this sweetheart? She deserves someone who will love her forever.

Put the cat into the ex's room... pick up the poo and put it in the x's room.... put the cat food dishes and water in the x's room, and the litter box (in case the cat changes it's mind lol)

I had a neighbor who kept allowing his dog to poo in my front yard...(come to think of it, a new one is doing this...I need to act!) and so I picked it up and put it in his own yard. It only took twice and the owner stopped letting the dog in to my yard...but the dog also then smelled it's own markings in his yard and poo'd there if the owner let him out

Let your x decide if the cat is worth it...?

she's gorgeous! I'd have her but yeah I'm in england.

the only real option you have is to call a rescue shelter and get them to come and get her. it's just not fair.

Mm. I think that might be the only option. I was going to ask my auntie - who is the sweetest person on the planet (she really is!) but unfortunately she has adopted a kitten. And she has a small place.

I hate this, I can't stand mistreated animals.
