The kitty I found in November outside took off this afternoon. She went out on the balcony and I guess she followed our other cat over as he went downstairs. I don't think she made it down or else we would have noticed her around I'm sure but got confused on how to get home and ended up meowing at the wrong window. I'm HOPE this happened because that means she is just one or two doors over and we can get her back quickly.. But I don't wanna get the hopes too high. She has a collar, so people should know she's owned so hopefully there are nice people around and no one decides to steal her or keep her for themselves..
I'm gonna put posters up, as I'm not socially ready to go door to door and ask, but I hope they work and we can get her back.. ![]() |

LittleForgetMeNot, I hate it when pets go missing. Have you found her yet?

No I haven't, and what's worse is it's been nothing but cold and raining these past few nights. If she's outside then she'll be cold miserable, and perhaps wander farther and father away in search of cover. If she's inside then I won't worry as much, and hope that the posters will get her home. The thing about her wandering is, my Dad isn't too keen on putting up fliers all around the neighbourhood. He just wants to keep it inside my building when she could be anywhere in our complex.
I have a horrible feeling that I'm never going to see her again.. |

At least she has a collar on so she can be identified and returned. She may have been taken in by some people in your building and are waiting for her to be reported missng. If you can't go to people yourself, maybe get a family member to go round for you? My cat once got lost but we got a phonecall from the people who found her and she's back now. Best of luck in getting her back

She has a collar but no tag. My Dad was reluctant in getting her one. He's always the type to be "it'll never happen to us" when it comes to my pets. He kept giving excuses that she didn't go downstairs or she'd know how to get back. We have a rabies tag and a license (though not an id tag yet) for one of ours who goes downstairs regularly which took a lot of fussing from me.
The only thing she has on is a collar, so if anyone picks her up they'll know she belongs to someone but there is no way to identify her. I really wish he had listened to me, and let me get at least some type of tag for her.. because now she might never be found.. |

have you called the shelters in your area to let them know? in case she gets turned in? if someone finds her they may take her directly to a shelter thinking that she is someone's pet & they might be looking for her...
cat's have a tendency to lose collars & tags...they become tangles on things as they wander about...it's why i always used break-a-way collars on my one who went outside..so it wasn't a choking or trap hazard. you can get her micro chipped so that if she gets out again & is turned into a shelter they will scan her & it will register as your pet. all vets & shelters usually have these. does each building have a central lobby..maybe put a poster in each lobby good luck. cats are very resourceful. stumpy ![]() |

We searched on the shelter's website and found a cat very similar to ours in description. Hopes went up but sadly it wasn't her. However the shelter is notified at least that a cat is lost, and we're going to keep checking the website regularly for updates. Our neighbours two and three doors down were asked about it but they haven't seen anything and well, posters are being printed now as I type this. I will post a poster in each the building's lobby, thanks for that suggestion!

call the shelter...many times animals just in to a shelter will not be placed on to the site..they have to be placed on a quarrentine for a bit. also depending on the shelter the website may not get updated daily...
plus if you call them you get to make personal contact with a shelter worker & "plead your case"...let them know about your cat..what she is like...anything different, special etc...it might make all the difference...sometimes that one call might be thing if a whole bunch of animals come in & the one little tidbit from a call sticks out...you will get a call back. like if they know her name..it helps identify her... stumpy ![]() |

I tried to post posters in our own lobby for the day before I went to the other buildings, but not even a couple hours later it was taken down by the owner. I was really upset about this. It clearly said that a pet was lost, but the owner cared more about the look of the wall by the elevators than a families lost pet. This makes me think that perhaps someone found her, put up a poster, and it was taken down before it was seen by anyone and now we won't find her. I'm still checking the websites at the shelters, and I'm going to phone them again tomorrow.. but it's almost been a week now and I'm starting to loose hope.

never lose hope..cats are resourceful (dogs too)...even if someone found her & has her inside...they can escape & run away (she did from your place right?) & come home. they never forget where they are loved & where is home.
how many stories are there of animals finding their way across the country, where ever to make their way back to a family that moved.... she may have been found by a family who thought she was a stray & they are caring for her (maybe she slipped her collar or they thought it didn't matter..who knows)...even if this is the case...she is in a safe spot until she makes her way back...so yeah you worry but think..she is getting food & water & care. keep calling the shelter, maybe even stop by if you can. put posters in laundry rooms if there are any..that way the precious lobby won't be ruined (yeah can't have that) my cat boomer was very social...he loved everyone. he went missing once for 4 days. i thought he was dead. turns out he decided to accompany a bread delivery guy on his rounds to northern new jersey. it just took the guy a while to make his way back to my area. boomer was fine..he seemed to love his adventure..as did the delivery guy & his family. boo also made a habit of showing up at every new neighbor's door & "telling" them he was a stray & starving so he could manage to con them into feeding him...i would have to follow him & then let them know that he was indeed very loved & certainly not starving ...he was a HUGE cat & not anywhere near starving. so yeah..they are resourceful. send her a message..let her know she is loved & tell ehr to come home. & relax. it sounds hard..but i find if i am searching & searching for something i never find it. the minute i stop..there it is. stumpy ![]() |

& when she does come home..you thank her & tell her she is the best cat ever. no yelling..no being angry..because she came back.
always when ever an animal runs away & then returns you thank them..because ya know it was a choice... sounds a little out there but really they could have just kept on going but they came back to where it was safe...so if they could do it by any means possible..they did. stumpy ![]() |

I was searching on the website again and found a cat that looked so similar to mine it made my heart do a little leap when I seen it. In the picture her facial markings are off by maybe 1cm but we decided it's obviously worth checking her out in person. I can remember some distinct characteristics about her that no other cat who looks like her should have.. I hope it's her, but I doubt it by the facial markings not being accurate. We're going to put up more posters tomorrow.. and if they're taken down again I'm just going to keep posting them or tell the owner that he has to keep them up at least for a week.
