I hope I don't sound too worried...
Today while I was gone to school (my brother was supposed to be home to watch him, but was late), my dog Zeppelin knocked down quite a few dishes, breaking some and definitely chewed on some of the glass. When my brother got home, he saw a bit of blood amongst the broken glass...checked his whole body & mouth and found nothing serious. He seemed fine, so just cleaned everything up. About...8-9? hours later, he threw up twice. No blood in it, but is it possible the two events could be related? My inner worry-wart is thinking that he could have swallowed some glass...and is cutting him on the inside. x.x Being a new dog owner, I'm not sure what to take seriously. ![]() |

I' ve had my dog 13 yrs. What happened to your has never happened to mine, but i think it' s good the dog threw up actually, maybe threw up any glass that he ate. I recommmend calling vet. If it's after hours there should still be an emergency number you can call. Your dog is probably fine, but it' s better to doublecheck with a professional whenenever you are unsure. Hugs to you and Zeppelin.

I think he is probably ok, but in the interest of safety if he has thrown up I would take him in ASAP.

when in doubt call a vet...they may want to do an x ray to make sure there are no shards inside him...don't give him any food or anything until you are sure or make him throw up....unless a vet tells you to.
===================================================== just for future reference..read up on an unrelated condition called "bloat"...it is scary...know the sign of it & keep some 'gasX" in your house..it can help save his life. bloat is a REAL emergency & not something that can wait until the next day. THIS IS NOT BLOAT. dogs with deep chests..like labs are prone to it... |

I have seen dogs require surgery for eating seemingly more benign things. I'd want to get him checked out to be sure everything is okay.
For future reference, you should look into crate training him. That way he can't get into dangerous things while you're not home.
