Vote for your favourite animal in a battle to determine it's fate in this universe. The loser will be eliminated, the winner will be showered in dog or cat food.

Hate this as love 'em both, but have always had dogs at any given time was the deciding factor.

P.S. My neighbor's cat drools, my dogs haven't.

I love all animals and used to think I was partial to cats. I've had some great dogs in my life and now I have Bella - she's the best dog I ever had, she knows when it's time to go in her crate without me saying a word - she has a unique bond with me.

I love cats. Always have (got my first at 5 years old). My extended family had a few dogs, but.. I don't know they were never really my thing. I went through phases when they really scared me, and I was attacked once by a dog, and then my brother got bitten by a pit bull. Since then I've tried to like dogs again, I mean I tried walking one but.. I don't know the jumping up, constant attention, loud barking, neediness and then you gotta train and raise the thing.. Bleh.

Cats are much more simple and cuter in my opinion.

Hand down...the dogs have it! I can't live without my dogs. They have more or a personality than cats.

In my humble opinion.

I work around a load of dogs all day, but I think cats are by far the superior species.
Hehe.
Especially old cats.

Love my cats. Love my dogs. But horses rule!

By the way have you ever been riding on a horse when it stepped on a cat? I have. The cat yowled and I tensed as I expected the horse to spook but he just walked right along and didn't miss a step. Cat was fine. Doubt he ever walked under the horse again.

Dogs have to be it.... (though I do love ALL animals)....
I've never seen a
"search and rescue cat team"....
nor do I know of any guard cats at businesses on the night patrol.
I've never seen a cop with a partner cat to protect him.....
I think dogs have a slam dunk, if we're talking about all around value to
humans.... .. I do love cats very much....
but dogs are the greatest ever!

Purplefins, I never heard of guard cats protecting a business, but my hubby and I once shared our lives with a cat who guarded our house!

That made me remember a Siamese cat that a neighbor owned... in an apartment house and that cat sat in the windowsill and with piercing eyes watched as each person passed by to get to the pool! Now I think that was a guard cat!

Dogs are okay. I had several growing up. Cats are cool. I've never had a cat chase me on my bike. I've never had a cat who wanted to bite me for no particular reason. I've never been annoyed by cats barking outside my window. My mother had a Siamese cat that was a kind of guard cat. When my nephew was a baby and he would get a nap on my mom's bed, the cat would lie on the outside of the bed w/ my nephew and guard him. One reason I like cats is that they seem to get the majority of abuse.

I don't know what I'd do without my kitties. However, if I had a dog, I'm sure I would feel the same way. The only reason I don't have a dog is my landlord. I like both. All animals are pretty damn cool

I prefer dogs over cats. To be honest, I prefer dogs over people. I have a lot of faults and people tend to notice all of them. The dogs who've been in my life seemed to think I was pretty cool. The best friend I ever had was a dog. I really loved her - almost half as much as she loved me.

I very much love my dogs and am more of a dog person myself. But at one point I was without one, had a cat, and a intruder/robber in the house while I was upstairs. Called 911 but Jake did attack, and it was how the burglar was identified a few days later, by all the scratches. I wouldn't count on this as a rule though; my others could care less about who comes in the house. LOL.

Yoda.......Love my cats. Love my dogs. But horses rule!
I'm with you on this comment Yoda......

Love the cats I've had in my life (the cat (Buffy), will never forget the love hate relationship we had. I got him when I was 5 years old....he would love to jump my legs when I was practicing the piano....ouch...would end up on top of the piano bench rather than sitting on it.

Got two other cats after I got married & got our first house....beautiful part siamese....Sammy looked like a short hair si with red markings rather than the dark. He had the blue cross eyes from the older si breeedings & his sister Abbey looked like a long hair siamese with the dark markings......had them for almost 18 years...........

Then I got my eskies from the lady who I was taking dressage horse riding lessons from....she was an american eskimo breeder & shower on top of her horses.....I fell in love with my little white furball Excell. First night home, we had him gated in the kitchen.....lol......all of a sudden in the middle of the night, I heard an achu next to our bed upstairs.....there was Excell up there wanting in bed with us......I traveled all over the place with him.....we had fun doing agility....not for showing, just for fun. I did show him & he was a UKC Champion, & finally got his AKC obedience title....lol....after 3 years of trying. He kept messing up on something different each show. Had to laugh because he knew it all....he just chose NOT to do certain things each time. He could turn off his hearing at will.....I loved him because of his independence. He knew what he liked & what he didn't & he was also the daddy dog for all the puppies I bread with Destiny Dreamer (who was my birthday present the year after I got Excell).....they were buddies his whole life.

Needless to say american eskimo dogs are like potato chips...you can't just have one.....so I have 6....only 1 is another eskie (Celia) that I bought from the same lady I got Excell from.

My dogs are such wonderful unconditional love that I just never felt from my cats....even though there was love....my dogs, especially Leo now are never away from me.......

I can't wait to get my horse Izzy.....I have missed her for 4 years now.....but bonding with her when she was born was something that I just know I will get her to where I am living now.....some day soon. I love the imprinting that happens with horses when they are first born...something I will never get a chance to have again I'm sure & something that was an amazing feeling.

Never had dogs until I was 43 years old when I got my first dog which was an American Eskimo dog (Excell) who I absolutely fell in love with. I got him at the same time I got my first horse. I loved Excell.....I did a lot of showing with him.....but the fun we had was all the back yard playtimes. He was a very independent sort
