If you read my other post, you know I had to put our cat, Ladybug, to sleep this morning. Her kidneys had failed. We had her for 17 years. It was especially hard b/c hubby is out of town. Thanks to each of you at PC who has been so supportive. More compassionate than my in-person friends. Thank you.

This is a little poem I wrote to her a few years ago, and I thought it was a nice way to say goodbye ...

Pink Padded Paws

There is a kitty cat we know,
A pretty little calico.

She loves to flirt; she’s hard to get.
It’s touch-and-go to pet her, yet

Her coat’s so soft, we have to try.
Who can resist those golden eyes?

Her long back legs do compensate
For lack of tail, and so her gait

Looks more like rabbit than like cat.
She hips and hops—just fancy that.

Pink padded paws take off in dance.
Those paper balls don’t stand a chance.

For all the food she loves to eat,
She’s quite the light one on her feet.

She zips and flies through our abode;
How fast she moves, for such a load!

Quick change of pace; she stops to rest:
All four feet up; that way is best.

Her tongue pokes out ‘tween nose and chin.
Sometimes she fails to pull it in,

Especially to concentrate.
(You know, great minds all share this trait.)

With that same tongue, she likes to drink,
A trickle running from the sink.

But when it’s finally time to sleep,
Between the covers she will creep,

So safe and warm, content and plump,
Disguised except for just a lump.

Forever at our hearts she’ll tug.
We fondly call her, Ladybug.

RIP Ladybug

Awww, she is beautiful
Such a hard thing to have to do, anytime. But from the way you described her, I think it was a very compassionate act and I picture her resting peacefully, comfortably, and beautifully now.

My heartfelt sympathy for your loss. So hard...

So sorry for your loss. It is a really lovely poem and a fabulous picture, both to treasure with your memories of one so clearly loved. Sending big hugs.

My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. I wish I had the energy to thank you individually, but you have lightened my heart and my burden. Yesterday was awful, but today is a little better. I know I will heal with time. Compassion means everything when you're hurting and I thank you for it.
Love,
Beauty
