I bought both my dogs those outrageously ginormous bones that they have to turn sideways to get through a doorway, they are content & were very thankful as always. Made my day super awesome just thought I'd share.

That's nice they're happy. Are these real bones? I wanted to make sure everyone knows not to give cooked bones but they can give a large rounded uncooked bones. Thanks for sharing.

No just two giant rawhides. we had a bad incident with my first born when my ex gave her a t bone while on a road trip, it splintered inside of her & we had to find an emergency vet, was very scary. Thankful she passed it all and was okay but after that they are not allowed to have t bones, pig ears & feet give her the runs so I stick with rawhides.

Thanks for the reply Justme55 - I bet they're very happy. Sorry you had a bad experience with real bones. Even though the experts say its okay to give a real uncooked big bone, I still won't risk it.

marrow bones or soup bones are ok...the ones you get from the butcher..just check to make sure they are large enough to not be swallowed and don't have any sharp jagged shards that can be broken off...
raw is best for them. ANY BONE THAT IS COOKED WILL WEAKEN & CAN SPLINTER...THAT IS WHY A T BONE SPLINTERED & INJURED YOUR DOG. COOKED BONES LIKE A STEAK BONE ARE ONE OF THE WORST THINGS YOU CAN GIVE A DOG. the raw marrow ones are ok...vet approved...they will help keep their teeth clean by naturally removing tatar & in the long run help you by not having you need to pay for a dental procedure. the marrow inside is good for the dog as it is rich in nutrition. i fill the bone with canned dog food or peanut butter sometimes & re-issue it maybe 2x after the initial chew & then dispose of them. the treated bones you buy in stores like petsmart etc are not all that good for your dogs..because 1st of all they are treated with chemical preservatives & usually cooked..& they are expensive..plus they stain your rugs. some dogs choke on rawhides by swallowing them...i have given them to my guys but some dogs rip off pieces & then swallow them too fast & then need surgery to remove them.... i like the marrow ones...usually 4 good sized bones (fist sized) cost me $3.00. you can buy deer antlers too which are supposed to be long lasting & great for chewing...stronger than bones but they are expensive...i haven't tried them but friends have & they like them for their dogs...just buy large ones . pig ears are high in fat & calories..so remember to balance out your dog's food intake if you use them...& as far as the hoofs...they 'stink" i just can't handle the smell of them & it always sounds like my guys are cracking their teeth so i just don't use them. |

Thank you for you're advice. The t bone she was given was cooked & that may have been the issue, she's also got a very sensitive tummy. I will check into the deer idea since I know people who hunt, my ex too. Having hematology under my belt I bet those luekocytes in the marrow are great for them both, didnt think about that just try to keep them exercised & happy. animal DNA is different but all dogs were hunters, great idea thank you! I was never fond of pig parts they are stinky. We all try to do what's best for our 4 legged babes. Thank you again, I will post when they chow some marrow. Get over it PETA lol!

My dogs always liked when the farrier was here to trim Dusty's hooves. It seemed gross to me but the dogs loved it.
