The U.S. Food and Drug Administration is releasing a National warning regarding a certain kind of chicken strips or treats that can pose serious health hazards for dogs.
According to recent news, there are some cases the contaminated strips can present life-threatening risks to pets.
The products that have been under investigation are marketed mostly as chicken tenders, treats or strips. The number of complaints regarding the several canine illnesses caused by the consumption of the alleged contaminated treats is increasing, pushing the FDA to look into the matter with more dedication and attention.
The FDA assures consumers the probably contaminated product is manufactured only in China. Some of the health issues linked to these products include an increase of sugar in the dog’s blood (Fanconi syndrome) and kidney failure. Sick animals sustain certain symptoms like vomiting, decreased activity, diarrhea and increased water consumption.

THIS WARNING HAS BEEN UP FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS BUT HAS BEEN RE-ISSUED WITH STRONGER LANGUAGE RECENTLY SINCE THERE HAVE BEEN MORE REPORTS OF DOGS BECOMING ILL.

THE PROBLEM IS FROM ALL TREATS MADE IN CHINA. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK ALL PACKAGES TO SEE THAT THE PRODUCT IS NOT MADE THERE. YOU HAVE TO LOOK CLOSELY. STILL SOME PRODUCTS WILL SAY THEY ARE MADE IN THE US BUT USE FOREIGN MATERIALS...SO YOU REALLY HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WITH THIS TYPE OF PRODUCT.

THEY ARE PRETTY EASY TO MAKE AT HOME IF YOU REALLY WANT TO FEED THEM TO YOUR DOG...BASICALLY CLEAN & SLICE THIN CHICKEN BREAST & PLACE ON A NON-GREASED COOKIE SHEET IN AN OVEN ON ABOUT 225 DEGREES FOR 8 HRS I BELIEVE.

SERIOUSLY DO NOT FEED ANYTHING TO YOUR DOG FROM CHINA...THOUSANDS OF DOGS & CATS DIED A FEW YEARS AGO FROM CONTAMINATED PRODUCTS & FOOD FROM CHINA. MANY US COMPANIES OUTSOURCE THEIR PRODUCTS TO THERE OR USE MATERIALS..AS A PET OWNER YOU OWE IT TO YOUR PET TO BE VIGILANT.

(don't mean to yell but this is a serious topic that needs attention...i know of more than a few dogs who died from contaminated food from the last batch & this jerky problem isn't going away depite warnings & threats from the FDA)

Stumpy rest assured I never ever feed my pets food made in China only real food actually made here in NZ.You never know what is being put into any food these days pets or other.Thanks for the heads up even though I'm not in the US.Alot of our pet food companies also have their food manufactured in china or even Indonesia.Hence I don't buy even though they are supposed to be trusted pet food brands.As you said though it is still very hard to know so keeping a heads up always pays.
