Hi guys! Hope you can help me.
I came to you guys because I really am helpless right now. And I really hope you can help me. I recently adopted a cat from the pound. I gave her a bath at once then the day after, she started sneezing like twice or 3 in a row. But it wasn't much. Last night it got worse and she couldn't really sleep. I looked for vets but she won't be admitted till Monday coz they are fully booked. I tried to look for other vets but I cannot afford their service. I wonder if u guys know how to give her relief. I'm thinking it could be allergy from dust or pollen or maybe dental. We replaced her litter with the no dust. I'm going to clean my room thoroughly. I use humidifier and wrap her in a towel to make her feel better. When she's on it, she doesn't sneeze. When I let her walk, she'd keep sneezing and drooling and would scratch her face so much. She eats dry food and doesn't like wet ones. When she's not on the humidifier she sneezes and drools a lot. But she always want someone to look after her or she'll wander around. I was referred by Killeen Pets Alive coz they do not know much about cats' health. I couldn't afford the very expensive vets. I found one that's $45 but she won't be assisted till Monday. I hope you guys can give me more advice. I'm researching through the net but couldn't find any answer but check the vet. I don't want to try to cure her and give her any medicine coz it might worsen her. God bless and thank you so much in advance |

About the only thing you can do is keep her comfortable until she can see the vet. With kitties it could be anything from allergies to some type of respiratory infection to who knows. Hugs to you and your kitty I hope you can find her some help.

Sounds like either allergies or an upper respiratory infection. Does she have a nasal discharge (ie snot)? If so, clear usually means allergies and green/yellow usually means infection. Are you able to take her temp? That would be another clue.
You said she came from a shelter. I'd be inclined to think she has an infection. Animals at shelters are exposed to all sorts of diseases. Best bet is to keep her comfortable, see if you can entice her to eat and take her to the vet tomorrow. Meanwhile, hang in there. |

This probably doesn't apply but I've been reading a lot about cat health recently and I read that drooling isusuallt a sign of nausea in the feline world. I hada cat, Chet, who developed drooling when he becam ill. You've already got some input from some of the best cat eople here so this is just me chiming in. Hope things get better soon.

Do you have an SPCA near you? If so they usually have low vet cost

Drooling may also indicate the cat needs its teeth cleaned.
My respectful 2¢. |
