Yeah that part of the cat's back is where they have some sort of pheromone glands and they like you to get it all over your hands.

But my cat LOVES getting his belly rubbed... Though, some times he does what we refer to as the steel trap.. Looks like he wants his belly rubbed, then WHAM! He's got you with teeth, claws, everything...

Yeah, I don't get it. I had a cat once, and if I tried to rub his belly, claws from all four paws latched right onto my hand. But my boyfriend could rub his belly and nothing happened! What's up with that? I was the one feeding Kitty!
