Luke is an Australian Red Kelpie. He was a rescued dog, from a neglectful owner.
Luke's visit to the vet.
I got him early in his life, and he responded to obedience training very quickly. Luke is a working dog, so he needed lots of exercise. Everyday, I would take him for a walk to the park, then let him loose to run around for an hour. His favourite game was to play tag with the magpies. He'd bark at them in a tree, then run away to entice the magpies to chase and swoop down at him. Then he'd turn around and chase them back the the tree. It is amazing how many times they repeated this exercise. You can tell that both Luke and birds were playing.

After such a walk I noticed Luke pawing at his left eye, as if trying to get something out. I checked his eye but saw nothing. A rinse with water but that did not help. So of to the vet we went. It was Luke's first visit.

I put Luke onto the examination table, as instructed by the vet. I explained the situation. The vet took out a muzzle from a drawer. I quickly told the vet that it was not necessary. Somehow the vet trusted me.
During the examination, the vet found a grass seed embedded under the first eye lid. He got his tweezers, and after several attempts, he was successful in pulling the grass seed out. Throughout the whole procedure Luke did not flinch a muscle. Luke and I just kept continuous eye contact.

At the end of the it all, the vat said: "I have never seen anything like that in my career as a veterinary surgeon". Yep, Luke made me feel so proud of him. He showed absolute trust in my judgement of the vet's abilities.

Thanks lizardlady, Buttercup11, gayleggg, and Cat_Lover_58.
Sadly Luke has past away from a good long life. But I will let him know (plus a woof) in my prayers.
... a few tears now, but good warm tears of love. Thanks.
