My two girls will lay on top of my hand that's on the mouse. Makes it really tough to use the mouse. Both girls and one of the boys will lay in my lap like the pic.

My cat does something similar, except he lies down and puts his head on my wrist like it's a pillow. While I'm typing. Then shouts at me because his pillow is moving...

Yup, you can't do your thing without attending to them at the same time:

cats both annoying and endearing
Emily as a kitten, 2001 (mousepad hog :-)

cats both annoying and endearing
Emily needing a headscratch, even though Perna wants a picture with the quilt top she's making, 2011

Looks like Emily wanted to be in the picture!
Callie is in my lap as I type this, making me reach over her to get to the keyboard!

Cats will ignore you until you ignore them. Then they demand attention!

I sit on the couch with my laptop and my one oldest cat (I have two) will sit next to me and tap me on the arm with her paw until I pay attention to her. If I don't pay attention quickly enough, she'll put a little claw into the tap so that it's like little pin pricks. She just wants to be patted and then she'll lay down and cuddle up next to me. That's where she is right now, in fact.

My cat will climb up on me, shove her head under the book that I'm reading, and try to knock it out of my hand.
It was in the 90's today and she looked like a limp furry rag. I put a couple of ice cubes in her water dish, but I'm not too sure that she liked it.

On the rare occasion that I get the chance to lay in bed reading, my cat will crawl around until he knocks my book to the floor, demanding that I scratch that special spot between his ears. He's the best cat ever and I love him to death.

My cat sleeps by the front door waiting for me. When I open the door, he rolls around in ecstasy but won't budge. We go through this every night. Me: "Please move" him:PUUURRRRR Me: "Please move!! Meep meep!!" him: (rolls over and rubs head against door, but body blocking the door) Me: (pushes open the door) him: me-Ew!! Me: "Meep meep!!" opening door slowly, using my foot like that thing on the front of a train to push him aside (he always looks sooo hurt when I do that). But once I get in, he's limp with joy, being half ragdoll and all that. I have to lean my fat old body down and pick him up and carry him around for a half hour, purring like crazy. Ah, love is grand!!

My cat just stands in front of the monitor so I can't see anything but him.
