Today was kind of rough, but then I went and spent a lot of time with my horse and he helped make it soooo much better. He helped heal my soul tonight

I had a horse that had a good soul. He was my BFF and my forever horse. When life was really hard I would put a chair in his stall and he put his head in my lap. He died last year at the age of 24 with good health until his sudden death. I miss him terribly.

Horses are amazing! I used to go to this quiet field out in the middle of nowehere, and there was this same horse there, that would wander on over to me, and I'd stroke him and talk to him, ... one day I went there, and he wasn't there.

i hear horses are meant to be good for people with mental illness- i've even read websites where they offer free sessions where you can just go along and see the horses
for me, it's my puppy. she always seems to know when i want a cuddle- and she knows when i'm down |

Horse are special for sure, Zwang you are lucky to be able to do that even if it wasn't for as long as you would of liked. That's really cool you for to experience that type of bond with an animal.
Shattered, puppy's are adorable yours sounds like a very special one at that ![]() Horses or any kind of animal for that matter are very therapeutic, I work at a non-profit horse barn that provides riding and mentorship to children and teens from the counseling center, probation, children services, etc. it's amazing to see how a horse can touch the soul of the person working with them in ways another human would never be able to. I know they have changed my life ![]() Sent from my iPod touch using Tapatalk - now Free |

I have been blessed over the years with several animals that had an extra special place in my heart.
One was my first horse. I could cry my heart out to her. She lived to be 34. I still miss her. Another was a little black Quarter Horse mare I had. A friend used to say the two of us were so close becase we were both a pair of crazy Bs. During a particularly bad period of time she was sick and had to be medicated every hour around the clock. I would sleep sitting up in the corner of her stall. She would lay with her head in my lap. She lived well into her 20s. It broke my heart the day I had to have her put down. Then there was the Quarter Horse stallion I had. I swear he could read my mind. He was a complete gentleman. I suppose the oddest of all was a cat my husband and I had. She was more my husband's cat than mine. He was the one she preferred to be with, except when I was upset. When I was really down she would come and sit with me and take care of me. When I was young we had a dog that was my best friend. I told her all my problems and would bawl into her coat when I was upset. I considered her my sister. She bit my dad once when he was pretneding to spank me. Then there was my cat Sambeckett. He died four years ago this month at the ripe old age of 19. He owned a HUGE piece of my heart. He wanted to be with me 24/7 if possible. I think he would have been content to be carried around in one of those baby slings. |

So true about horses! I have horses now. But I used to have some before when I first got panic attacks. They were my solace until the medicine kicked in, and even afterwards, cause you know the medicine don't work every minute.

I have a beautiful wonderful horse and she is the light of my life. I also work in the therapeutic animal field and hope to be involved with it the rest of my life. I see how much the animals help and how special and healing they really are. It is such a rewarding career.

My cat, Miss Mew, used to sleep with me, but after she deliberately defecated and urinated on my bed because she sniffed another scent neither mine nor hers. She understood why she no longer sleeps with me. Other than that, she knows what I talk about depending on the situation. I often have to tell her that she is aware and ignoring my grievance with her, I call her on her bluff of ignorance.
Buddy, the cockatiel, is not a male. I was told at the animal shelter Buddy was a male. Buddy's behaviors are more like a female and I have had a female cockatiel before. She does not complain and want to be out of the cage like a male. She enjoys me exercising in front of her cage(I think she believes I am dancing for her. I am not very good at karaoke, so she relies on my "dancing" to trigger some response that I am acceptable to her flock. However, she is needy wishes me not to be away from her very long. She shows her disapproval by not eating until I return home. Then, she communicates through body language-turns to have her back always faces. Later on, she commiserates by chatting in a cockatiel rap rhythm that I substitute words into. Ok I will stop for now. Even though the behaviors are true, it still sounds delusional.

I love my animals more than most people in my life. They've helped me through some really ****** times when even close loved ones failed me. I have 2 cats, a dog and a horse. They've all helped me immensely in different ways... but nothing compares to my horse. He is just a soothing soul to be around. Even my dad who is normally terrified of horses and a complete old grouch most of the time, was reduced to talking like he does to his beloved labs ("oh what a good boy! he's such a good boy! who's a good boy? you are! you are maximus!" etc) while petting and hugging him. It was actually pretty funny. Especially since dads old and short and Maximus is a giant percheron. I can be having the worst day and a short ride with max makes most things better.

My 8 month old cat Guri is the best thing in my life at the moment. He's just so adorable I feel like crying sometimes. Honestly. He does the cutest things like falling asleep with his tongue sticking out of his mouth or sleeping at the crook of my neck and biting my earlobe. He's growing so fast. He's a curious cat and loves to climb my neighbor's wall to see what's on the other side; then he gets scared of his dogs and runs back home. I wish he could live forever.
