Scooter is a sweet little guy that spends most of his time sleeping. He's a 13 year old maltese. Last night he started walking about 2 feet and laying back down and whimpering. He did this over and over. I put his jammies on him because I thought he was cold.

When we went to bed he slept find until around midnight when he woke me up whimpering again and he was on the stool at the end of the bed. I thought he might need to go outside, but when I set him down. He walked about 2 feet and layed down and then peed on his self, which is not normal. We carried him outside and brought him back in. I covered him with a towel and slept on the floor beside him the rest of the night. He seems to be fine this morning but he is sleeping peacefully. Not sure what is going on with him. Very vague symptoms. Didn't seem to have any pain when I felt him over. Any ideas or prayers for him are welcome.

I would get him to the vet as soon as possible. Pet's hide their pain when they can. There could be a bunch of reasons why your pet is doing what he is doing.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I thinking I need to take him to the emergency clinic in the next town. We live in the country and his vet doesn't have all the diagnostics that they have in town.

I would get him there just pronto just to rule out anything major. Sounds like he's trying to tell you he is in pain.

He is doing better. The vet thinks it was one of his medicines that gave him gastric distresses. Thanks for all your concern.

I'm glad it was not serious! My Rusty was like that when she went into congestive heart failure. She just kept whimpering and wouldn't let me out of her sight. The vet gave her a med to drain off some of the fluid and she lived a few years more, we had to keep her on meds though.

I'm glad to hear he's doing better! Taking him to the vet was the best thing to do. I'm glad it's not something too horrible and hope he will continue recovering.
