So I went to my friend's house and we were handling her baby snakes and she's trying to give them away so I texted my parents--who've been anti-pet for a few years now--if I could have one and they replied, "Wait till Christmas, big surprise" and I got all excited about it because I thought that meant I was going to get a pet for Christmas.

So my parents got home and I went up to my mom all excited and asked what the surprise was because I knew they're terrible at keeping surprises and my mom said "What surprise? There's no surprise" and then when she left my Dad said, "Don't talk about that around Christmas time because it will hurt Mom's feelings." So I guess what he meant over text was wait till after Christmas to ask because it's a big surprise to my mom that she couldn't get what I really wanted.

I know it sounds selfish, but I'm just really bummed. I've wanted a pet for a long time now and for about an hour I really thought that he meant I was going to get a pet for Christmas.
