My cat Morgan, who I've had since I was 3, is being put to sleep in 1 hour. Her liver is failing and she has been sick for some weeks now. I will be in the room with her while its being done. I'm really sad, and I don't know how I'm going to deal with this. I love her so much. Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice?

I am so, so sorry. Hang in there and take good care during this time. May Morgan rest in peace and may your memories together bring you comfort in the days ahead. (((((kaycae))))))

I have been through this with one of my dogs. She was struggling to breathe one moment to quiet and peaceful the next. It was one of the hardest things I ever had to do. You will need to go through the grieving process just as if it were a person. Our pets grow very close to our hearts. Take your time and be easy on yourself. I'm sorry you are having to go through this, but you will find comfort in being with her at the end. It's such a peaceful transition. Best Wishes.

Its okay to cry and its okay to be sad, very sad. Pets are a huge part of our lives. They are family. When our pets are sick we need to do the right thing by them. I had a cat called Jenny and she got sick and I had to put her down.

I look at photos I have of her. I promise you will find reminders for ages to come. Cat hair gets into everything.

kaycae, I've lost count of the number of pets I've had to have put down over the years. It hurts every time I have to do it. At the same time I know I'm helping to end their suffering. I consider it my final gift to them to end their pain.

As others said, it's ok to grieve. Please be gentle with yourself while you do.
Thanks for this!
