I took them to the vet this morning. She gave me the choice to be in the room with them or leave. I sat with both while she gave them the injections. I thought I'd be able to hold it together until I got home. Turns out I bawled like a baby when they took Callie out of the room to perpare her for me to take home. One nice touch was that they put each in cardboard boxes shaped little little coffins.

Al was going down hill fast. I don't think he would have lasted the weekend. He wouldn't even eat treats this morning. It was definitely time.

I was still waffling when I put Callie in her carrier. She was still begging for food and relatively active. It was strange when we got to the vet's office. It was like she knew why we were there and started to let go. She went from active to looking kind of lost. She normally liked to cuddle and wanted to be left alone. I swear she knew why we were there and was letting me know it was okay.

I brought them both home afterward. I buried Al under an alamanda bush he liked to sleep under. I got a small yellow Lab statue a few weeks ago. I put it on top of where he is. I buried Callie near one of my rose bushes and plced a cat statue on top.

I know this was the right thing but crap it hurts.

Sabrina,

You are very brave and loving. Rejoice that they are no longer in pain.
