I'm beginning to wonder if I should change my username from lizardlady to crazycatlady.

I posted in another thread that I adopted a little orphan kitten last Friday.

Monday I met with a friend who is fostering some kittens that will be adopted out when they are ready. One of them has a scratch on her eye. The friend said she didn't know what to do for the kitten and could not afford a trip to the vet. I mentioned I knew what to do and had the medicine at home. Yeah, you guessed it. I ended up bringing the hurt little one home to doctor her. I keep telling my friend it's only for the time it takes to heal the eye, but I'm getting attached to the little devil. Adding her to the crew will mean FIVE cats!

I think that name is already taken.

Besides, compared to this, you are a rank amateur.

The hurt little one is a grey tabby. I think the tabby pattern is called mackrel. Instead of lines the stripes are made up of spots. I pretty sure she's a girl. She's got a fuzzy but so it's kind of hard to tell. She's probably about 4 weeks old. She quiet and loving. The eye seems a little better today.

The lady that my mom bought a house from back in 1993 had 8 cats at the time.

I know that's not the most anyone's had, but still....

As much as the crazy cat lady life appeals to me, I think that I would only like two or three so that I wouldn't have to try to divide all my time equally or break up cat fights or change so many litter boxes lol.
Still, though, it's a much more feasible outcome than me ever getting a husband and having kids and having the kids take care of me when I get too old to do that.

I had a gray tabby that we adopted when I was 5 (she was 5 as well; we just had to put her down almost 2 weeks ago). It sounds like she had a similar coloration to the one that you have, Lizardlady. You couldn't see much variation in the fur color on her back, but her belly was spotted. Also, she had little vertical stripes above her eyes that made it look like some kind of really thick eyelashes. She was so pretty.

I always say I'm one cat short of being a crazy cat lady. I am a dog person, I really am, but I started feeding the cats outside, and I'd say there's about 15 of them that show up (but not all at once). Our neighbor is apparently building a deck to the back of his house, and I think all the construction work scared my cats away, because none were out there when I first put food down yesterday, and only about four or five at night when I fed them. I am worried about one cat, Duchess, who hasn't been around for a few days. She seems to have a skin condition and looks as if she might have been in a fight or something at least once, but she's the sweetest thing. And my cat, Cozy, who we'd had as an indoor cat until she escaped and decided to stay outside (I always hold the door for her, in case she ever wants to come back in), hasn't been around since the neighbor's construction, either. She's always by our shed and comes to me when I bring out the food. I hope she's okay. I hope all of them are okay.
