I have a 15 year old cat (her name is Yoko), and I worry about her not being warm enough when I'm at work. I have bought her too many kitty beds to count; she loves them for about 10 days, then after that, she never sleeps in them again! Does anyone else have a cat that does this or have any idea why she does it? Incidentally, she does the same thing with boxes.

Please don't tell me that we had that conversation,
'Cause I won't remember, save your breath 'cause what's the use?

Aahh, the night is calling, and it whispers to me softly,
"Come and play". Aahh, I am falling, and if I let myself go
I'm the only one to blame.

I'm safe, up high, nothing can touch me, but why do I feel
this party's over?
No pain, inside, you're like perfection, but how do I feel
this good sober?"

May I ask firstly has she ever slept in a box or bed
or has she always had free run to sleep where she likes
my kitten will not sleep with me and thats ok she is so small
I worry I will roll on her lol
the thing to remember here is her age she sounds set in her ways
as cats and dogs do like humans become set in their ways
I would not worry about if she is cold I bet if you set a spy
camera up in the house you would be amazed at her inganurity (sorry spelling) A cat no matter their age will never go without what they need
especially as she has all right at hand.

(((Starrina))) Yoko (my kitty) has always had free reign of the house. She has always loved to crawl into teeny weeny boxes to sleep, the smaller the better. She also likes plastic grocery bags. No matter what it is that I come up with for her, whether it be a bag, a bed, or a box, she will lay in it for about a week, then after that she wants nothing to do with it anymore. It's not like I try to force her or anything, she's really nosy so if anything new comes into the house, she's on it within seconds. I just don't get why she adores it for a few days and then turns her nose up to it. Any ideas??

Perhaps it is like you say just something new
if you buy your child a new toy chances are they
will prefer the box it came in I strongly suggest you keep
plastic bags out of harms way though.
I would not buy anything new bed etc for her
it is just a waste of money for you
I do not know why she only likes it for a short
except to suggest it simply does not feel right
as humans I guess we can have something for a short time
then decide no this is not for me I prefer the old rather then the new
and it maybe as simple as that for her.

She does it because she is a cat! Can't tell you the number of cats I've had who did the same thing.
Thanks for this!

LOL - I guess that's as good a reason as any other.
Cats-----Hard-headed, impossibly picky, fuzzy little beasts..................but I love 'em!

I agreed she does it because she is a cat. My cats wont use "cat" beds at all. They love people beds though.

I have tried cat beds and mine always goes back to a shoe box. And a shoe box is only good for a week or two, then he will find something else. He usually goes back to my recliner or my computer keyboard.
Thanks for this!

Knothead, a suggestion about her being cold. I've had two elderly cats who got cold in the winter. I bought them dog sweaters to wear when it got cold. Initially they didn't like the sweaters, but quickly learned they were warm.

reptile heating lamps are easy to get ahold of, and easily portable. When you notice she's frequenting a new spot you can clip it on there, or around it, and she may enjoy that.

now that it's getting to be winter time one of our kittens (tiny little runt) has started sleeping in the turtle's tank under his light at night. They put off good heat and are quite portable.

they also sell ceramic ones that don't put off light, so that the light won't bother her.
