A stray kitty has been hanging around the last few days. Last night when I went out to get some wood for the fireplace the kitty came over for a visit. It was rubbing on me, purring, acting loving. I was petting it when it suddenly turned around and bit me!
![]() Thankfully my arm looks okay this morning. The bite area is tender, but no heat and no swelling. |

Cats are like that, like they roll on thier back you tickle them then they bite!
I sure you will be fine but its a good idea to get it checked out. Lucky kitty that you found her. |

Poor lizardlady! Maybe you accidentally touched him in a point that hurt. For this reason I'm usually a bit scared to touch cats that I don't know, though I love cats.

Definitely see the doctor about the bite. When I used to groom cats I was bitten several times and quite often had to be on antibiotics. Had to go to the ER for a bad infection once. Cat bites can be very nasty!

Gotta say the kitty sounds passive- aggressive
![]() ![]() I know you didn't want the kitty to go to the animal shelter but in this case you really didn't have any other options. The shelter were I used to volunteer would get both dogs and cats that had bitten someone then work with them to see if they were adoptable. If they weren't they would get their ears nicked and set free to be feral cats. All animals that came in were chipped and neutered. So as long as they bit no one eles they would be ok. Where I live there's a lot of places where kitties get fed even though there's a lot of free Vermin around for them too. ![]() ![]()

Some kitties are just like that. You think they're happy, and whammo, you get swiped at or bitten, when all you were doing was petting them. It's just that some kitties are more sensitive, and can really only handle so much touching.
With that said, from personal experience, you do need to have that bite checked out. My boy cat bit me once and I had blood poisoning from it. Yeah. I thought I had cleaned it really good, and I put neosporin on it and all. It was no match for whatever lives in his mouth! Hopefully, kitty is otherwise healthy. Would they let you adopt her, even if you kept her as an outside kitty? |

Well, "her" is a "him." I managed to convince him to get in a cat carrier this morning. He really seems like a sweety. Who knows what caused him to bite. I took him to animal services with a heavy heart because I thought they would put him down to test him. Turns out they keep them under observation for 10 days. If he's okay at the end of the 10 days he can go up for adoption.
![]() I will keep in mind what everyone said about seeing a doc. At this point I'm going to watch the arm myself. Don't worry, if I think there's any chance it's infected I will get to the doc ASAP. |
